Just wanted to say hello to everyone, I recently picked up a 1290 Superduke
I'm a big fan of V-Twin or L-Twin sport bikes/Naked bikes, I've owned several Ducatis a two RC-51's and honestly this bike is a torque beast.
Hopefully it will not require the kind of maintenence that the Ducatis do, even thou my only local KTM dealer quoted me over $575 for the first break in service which I believe to be pretty pricy and needless to say that I performed it my self, lol I've included a couple of pics also.

Beautiful bike... I see you have the Austin Racing GP2 carbon exhaust. How do you like it?? How does it compare to the stock exhaust sound? Do you have the full system of just the slip on?
Sorry for so many questions but I'm on the fence of buying the GP2 or GP2R carbon fiber. They are expensive and I'll be buying it without actually seeing it or hearing it first... so I'm a little nervous.
Thanks man!

Hi everyone im completely new to the ktm side and v twin , i have a k8 gsxr 750 and im selling up to get a superduke 990 08 onwards. Just wanted some opinions it will most likely be the R edition i get.

Basically what i want to know is i will be looking to modify it i.e exhaust , air filter etc etc and i was wondering what is best to do on them as from what i have read they suffer a lot with throttle problems at low revs and so on ,so i was wondering if someone could give me a
List of things to do to them so i can start pricing up and get a general idea on everything to do with them.

Thanks

Hey, I wouldn't worry too much about it until you get one and see what you can or can't live with. Funny I just sold my 07 GSXR750 to get my latest SuperDuke. Yes the throttle is super responsive and jerky at some speeds, you certainly can't drop down to 40km/h in top gear then still be able to smoothly accelerate away like on the GSXR. Some riders are annoyed by that and some not.

I had an 07 SDR which was totally standard apart from Akro pipes and I never felt the need to change it, now have an 06 and am intending to change the airbox etc but more for the look and ease of maintenence than taming the response.

Yer thats fair enough ill do that then , i asked the questions because i just cant leave my bikes standard i have to tinkle with something haha, the gsxr was okay but it just annoys me you have to ride them so hard to even get anywere out of corners i come from a 1200 bandit before that with altered sprockets etc, so you can imagine the difference, and now i just want that torque back and i love the look of these ktms , whats reliability like overall im good with servicing so that will be done regulary, i know from motocross experience there crossers were far
From reliable but im hoping with a v twin lump there a bit better ? Also what to look out for when buying ?

Welcome mate.
As far as big bore bikes go if you are handy with a spanner it's a pretty east bike to live with, that plus plenty of info on this site, including manuals.
Search function is shit but have a look around it's all here.
Oh and put your location on your profile, helps a lot.
