Well I've been coming to Superduke.net for a little while now. This past fall I upgraded from my Yamaha FZ6 to one of my top dream bikes, 07 Superduke. This my 3rd KTM and at this time I also have 04 450exc that has been made US street legal. I live in Sharpsburg, Georgia which is in the Atlanta, Ga area. I love everything about the Superduke, since buying it back in Oct. I have only rode the Yamaha Fazer once and that was to take to the motorcycle shop to sell it.

My long ride on the Superduke just in time for the fall colors,

Today was a sad day for me, I laid my Superduke down for the first. Lucky it was at low speed and I was able to walk/ride away but both myself and the SD are a little sore.
These two were taken about an hour before laying it down,

I always wear all my protective gear,

Welcome! Looks like a new or secondhand spoiler would have the sd back as new. How did you 'crash'?

Welcome!
Like omky756 said, time to invest in some crash bungs!
Upper engine protection would have prevented the damage to the radiator.

Welcome to the madness!

See it this way: Every crash is an excuse to pimp out on bling for the SD!
Hope both of you are OK!

Do you still run these Dunslops 208RR's? They look like it in the pic's, they caught me out too on a cold day and landed on the deck.

Welcome on board dude. I'll 2nd the investing in some sliders advice. They make low sides a relatively inexpensive crash unless you are very unlucky. I've had 2 on track and came away with just needing new sliders and a rearset foot peg which ground down.

Thanks for the welcome and everyone is right with the crash protection, I have axle sliders but have yet to get the frame sliders. I was on the way home and was turning on another highway with a long merging lane, the car in front of my came to a dead stop both entering the merging lane, I was look to my left for traffic so I could merge onto the highway. When I looked forward I saw the car wasn't moving and grabbed too much front brake and the Duke went down, I was going around 25mph. I was thrown forward and slid on my right shoulder/head, as I sliding I was inches from the car's rear tyre that was still rolling. I was lucky that I didn't get hurt more and that the SUV behind me stopped. The police officer didn't write either of us a ticket, the girl driving the car was very hot (sorry I didn't get a chance snap a pic of her), and the officer helped with the repairs to limp it home. During my 2 hour ride home I replayed everything in my head and wondering why I didn't do this or that, but all in all I was lucky.

Thanks

Damn Georgia peaches. I'm sure you wanted to be pissed, but she melted your heart with a pearly white smile, didn't she?

Glad you are OK, and since no one else said it . . .

That will buff right out!

She didn't melt my heart but was better to look then the poor Duke, you are right I'm sure I would upset if the driver of the car happened to be a overweight female or some dude.

To answer the question about the tyres, I currently have a Dunlop Sportmax Qualifier on the front but a Sinko Apex on the rear. The Sinko Apex actual heats up good and nice -n- sticky, but I haven't truly tested them in the rain. I'm not sure if I'll continue to run them when I'm due my next tyre change, which would include front and rear. On my FZ6 I had the Sinko Raven and they weren't that bad for a all purpose tyre, they were great in the rain and wear even better and never seemed to get loose on the mountain roads or the one track day I've done.

My insurance adjuster will be looking at the SD tomorrow along with my gear. So atleat I'll get paid for my 2nd hand Alpinestars Jacket and Boots, hell my Alpinestars gloves a few years old and were ready to be retired any ways. I upgrade my helmet from a cheap Seven Zero Seven to another Shoei or a top shelf lid.

Thanks
