Hell everyone!

I currently have a 2012 FZ8 but I've always drooled over the Superduke since I first saw it. Well now it seems my dealer has secured two zero mile 2009 superdukes so this dream may become a reality. What would be the going price for something like this? <$10k? They haven't received them yet so they haven't put a price on them I'm just looking for something to go off, to try and haggle them down a bit. I tried basing some prices off local used one's but since everyone thinks their bike is extremely rare they're asking a premium price.

Ok, the dealer is in the Berts area so I'll try to use that as a bargain point. I figure as long as I can get it for near what I paid for the FZ8 I'll be ok ($8700). Hopefully this week I'll be able to post of some pics

There is a dealer in Texas that has been advertising a "2009" with 0 miles as used...confusing to say the least, but their price is $7299. You have a very nice used bike available in Huntington Beach if these "new" bikes don't pan out. Good luck and welcome to the board/forum.

There were no "2009" SDs brought to the US as far as anyone here is aware.

SDs are not rare, and its pretty easy to find a very low mileage example with all the desired goodies for $8K or less.

For an NOS 2008 (which has a 2 year warranty that begins when you purchase it), no one should pay more than about $9K. At this point, I wouldn't shell out more than $8K OTD. We are talking an NOS bike that is nearly 5 years old. It will need a somewhat expensive battery straight away unless you see the stealer take a new one out of a box and install it. Then there's the grit in the cooling system thing - which no stealer does a decent job of removing; and, and, and ...

Bottom line: ALL stealers are self-interested. Hyping you into believing that what you're getting is somehow "rare" and that you should pay a huge premium for that privilege is simply salesmanship.

I'm not big on giving out advice, but here's a thought: Keep riding that FZ8 until the next model SD comes out (supposedly next year ... TBD). Probably obvious ...There will be a lot of decent low-mileage 08's that will turn up at that point.

While everyone on this site is a self-proclaimed expert mechanic and engineer (and I am sure you are too), I encourage ANY prospective SD buyer to comb this site very carefully before committing to the bike, so they have some idea of what they're getting into - particularly service costs (and time involved if you DIY), and what's involved (again, time and $) in addressing all the SD's factory design flaws. A Yamaha, it's anything but.

love the one your with.
That's my perspective of you prospect.
You got a great bike that will give you wonderful riding pleasure for many miles more.
Do you say out loud in front of Yamaha that you want to leave her for another?
If so, don't be surprised if she throws you right on your ass!
Ride her for a few years and get some pleasure out of your purchase.

Also check the tyres. Mine is an '07 I bought in 09 and the rubber was pretty hard. Some of the other rubber caps and bits had started to check and crack. Just give it a good look over.

First off, Get them to admit it is a 2008.
Otherwise anything else you will do with them will be based on an initial falsehood. Can only go down from there.

Secondly, the battery suggestion is a good one. Be sure they replace it with a NEW Yuasa YTZ14S. That is the correct battery and will run close to $200 depending on where you live.

I wouldn't ride on the tyres that are on the bike so if you are like me, you will negotiate a deal for new tyres.

I would probably be a bit concerned with the coolant. I would do the drain/flush/purge myself rather than trust the stealership.

All this has been mentioned here. I have purchased over 20 new bikes over the years and this is the path I would take.

When you get it, you will love the bike! Ride it for a while before buying a bunch of crap for it. Many guys here bought the bike and started changing stuff right away. ( I did, but for a specific purpose)
Having said that, there is quite a bit of good stuff available for the bike.

If these NOS SDs keep popping up, they will soon be selling them as "vintage" for a really inflated price.

Well, they wanted $10K for the NOS bikes which is ridiculous. They had just received a 2008 SD with 4k miles on it, with MIVV cans, I ended up walking out with that one. They're installing new tyres/battery, they also had all the documented work that has been done to it. For $7200 I think I made out ok, the coolant didn't look bad but I'll still end up tearing into it in the near future just to be safe.

To be honest I'm not sure and I'll have to check when I pick the bike up on Sunday. Thank you for the link to the tutorial, can I ask what you meant by the pinch clamps? I couldn't find anything on it.
