I live in Saint Paul Minnesota. I had a KTM 950 Supermoto for the last 4 years and I loved riding the bike. I just didn't love the way it looked. At the time there were several Super Dukes for sale in the area, so I put the Supermoto up for sale with the intention of buying one of the SDs. By the time my bike sold the Super Dukes were gone. It took several weeks of looking and a SDR came up for sale in Denver Colorado for a fair price. I flew to Denver and bought the bike. After the longest wait in a DMV line I had ever endured, I took a canyon ride up to Estes Park. Then next day I rode it back home.
Sadly the previous owner is a twit. The bike was supposed to be in showroom condition and he was supposed to be super meticulous about care and maintenance, It's now clear he is just an idiot. For example,
he had removed the rear fender and turn signals and replaced them with a small aftermarket bracket and tiny turn signals. He had twisted the wires together and wrapped them with duct tape. Nether turn signal worked and one was missing it's lens.
The bike only had 4300 miles on it, so I'm hoping he hasn't done any other "improvements".
I do like the bike and I'll be asking lots of questions here about Super Dukes.

Welcome! Isn't it funny how things work out sometimes? My first SD came from Denver as well and we had an enjoyable ride back to VA by way of the Dragon.

I love Waffle House. We don't have them up here on the tundra, so I stop at every one I can when I'm traveling. On that day I had a bad airport breakfast at 7:00 am and didn't get to Waffle House till 3:00. (Colorado DMV is BAD) The steak and eggs with waffle fixed that.

Awesome bike, hope you get the previous owner issues ironed out. On a positive note, a guy who uses duct tape on wiring is probably too clueless to turn a wrench, so maybe he didn't mess with anything! I would be more worried if you saw a bunch of electrical tape holding stuff together...

Welcome dude..
Waffle House..I go every time I see my cousins in
Kentucky..Fly into Nashville and first place we stop..
Haven't been in 6 yrs...
You will get it all sorted..I'm sure..Sounds pretty minimum
compared to others on the site that bought used S.D.'s
By the time you add all the goodies..You will have had the
bike apart and back together 20 times...
You will know her inside and out by then..

My main question so far is about the surging/bucking/on off throttle thing. I have found several threads that say it's an easy fix and it's been covered here several times, but, I haven't found the thread where the solution to the problem is covered. I'm guessing it's a new throttle tube and re-map.
I plan on building my own rack for the tail, so I will get better at taking it apart and putting it back together.
My SDR came with the stock seat and a Corbin. KTM just can't make a seat. This might be worst than their dirt bike seats. The Corbin is not much better, but I shimmed the front so it sits flat and it will do for now.
I had a black handle bar from my last KTM and I swapped that on. Same height as the stock one but wider, so I feel more at home now.
This is going to be a fun summer.

Welcome, I also went to Denver to get my SDR...just before Christmas. Sorry to hear the guy was "not quite right", but you got a great bike. Had notified a friend about that bike, but he was to lazy to go back to Denver from OKC...he went with me to pickup mine.
Posted a listing from craigslist Denver for a set of Akrapovic cans the other day....smoking good price if you are looking to upgrade from the heavy stock/cat system.
Enjoy!!

Welcome dude and congrats on the new bike.
I hope the wiring diagram is still in the how to section as you might need it to fix the indicater issue.
If not PM me.
THe biggest fix for the surging issue on my bike was to take all the emission stuff off like O2 sensors and SAS valves and install the block of plates.
The custom map than solved all the problems, no throttle tube needed.

ozarkhomie, I got ahold of the guy selling the Akropovics in Colorado. I'll keep you posted.
ktmguy, I fixed the turn signals and put the rear fender back on all ready. I hadn't planned on removing the emission stuff, but I'll be doing that now. I can't stand the fueling as it is. Plus, I want to get rid of the pollution can under the seat so I can keep my tool kit where it's supposed to go. I'll be ordering block off plates tomorrow.
