I understood that SDs were relatively trouble free. Not so? In this economy many if not most bikes are depreciating rapidly. What is the consensus on the SD reliability?

p.s. I also sold the Multistrada, so the SD better be reliable!

Hi Good2bking.

Welcome to the Superduke club I too sold a Ducati Superlight and found the KTM marque a better step in nearly every department. Had a 640 single supermoto first but missed the V twin thing so despite my doubts about the brutal styling, (I was used to pretty Dukes) I went for a brand new '07.

Never regretted it once. Constantly telling Duke owners why. You will find out. I suggest you get a bottle of wine one night and start reading the threads from way back and just take in some of the stories and experiences. You'll see that this is a world of self discovery, of people trying things out, curing the few problems that the SD has and exploring how to improve what is already a fantastic package. There's no NCRs and flash after-market parts companies in the world of SD to make it too easy. But there are a few specialists and people like Motohooligan who offer some essential upgrades and you will get a load of help here. Every question you have has already been answered and discussed - it's a shame that the search bit of the site is not that good - you'll just have to ask and people will direct you to the relevant thread.

KTM and Superdukes have the ability to make you a fanatic - just like Ducati does.

Enjoy!

Welcome mate. Know what you mean about the sports bike. My SD has just replaced my Aprilia Rsvr. I'm 51 and felt it was time for some comfort, its sports capabilities and fun factor are just bonus's.
Besides I have a dedicated track bike too, so don't need two sports bikes.

Enjoy!
