Hello folks, it been a while.

I used to be known as bruders8146 on the site but forgot all my detail and had to sign up again.

I used to be on-site back in 2015 sold my duke at the time because I got itchy feet and wanted to try new bikes. I wanted a 1290 also.

However after trying all types of bikes etc, my favorite has been the superduke 990 so I'm back, and here to stay.

Just out of interest... what bikes did you try and what was it about them that made you sell them?

I also get itchy feet from time to time but I do love my 990, even though the fecker has a nail in her rear tyre at the moment.

These are the bikes I've owned

Kawasaki z800
06 super duke
WR426
DT350
Honda cbr600f
Ducati 848
K3 Gsxr
Triumph Tiger 995
x2 1980 cb650 (one custom) one standard
1980 Kz750
Suzuki gsx600f
08 Super duke

These are bikes I've ridden recently

Cb1000r
Fireblades
Africa twin
vtr1200
cb125
Honda Grom
Superduke 1290
Triumph Bonneville
Triumph street triple 675 and 765
triumph tiger 800 and 1200
Yamaha mt01
yamaha mt09

probably more than I've missed these are the ones that I can remember
After the Superduke I liked the street triple and believe it or not the tiger 995 was very surprising (i felt very stable on this)

I really really wanted a super duke 1290 after owning a 990 but I just found it so on edge. and uncomfortable, I did ride a few just to make sure. I also found the MT01 very on edge and both these bikes I did ride on all settings

the K3 Gsxr was a cracking bike but being a sports bike I felt like I had to ride it it like a cunt, everywhere I went I found myself trying to hang off it at every opportunity, trying to tuck in on the straights to see how fast I could go etc,etc basically I rode like a right tit and had to calm down.

When I bought my 990 back in 2016 I thought that I would naturally progress up to a 1290 after a couple of years, my touring bike at the time was a Vstrom 650.
Eventually the performance difference between the two bikes became just too annoying and so at the end of 2018 I sold the Vstrom and bought an 1190 Adventure. This pairing seems pretty good.

The 1190 is more... more power, more comfort, more range, more mpg.. it's a great bike... but the 990 has shown how delayed the bigger/newer KTM engines are. The fly by wire throttle is slow compared to instant reaction you get from the 990. The 990 feels raw and makes a lovely noise through the Akras.

I think the contrast between the two keeps me interested in both right now. If I were to get a 1290 SD I'm not sure they'd feel so different from each other, well apart from their size, but I have heard the 1290 SD's feel a bit porky in the corners.
Also I don't think the 990 is lacking in power for road use... so in a way the 1190 has killed the want of a 1290 SD.

I think you have a perfect set up.

For me also I think the 990 perfect for road use. all these figures you see now in BHP are swing dick competition.. and I think the rider suffers from the usability in the power. I think the 140bhp cb1000r has better power delivery over the 1290 and the MT01 but that could just be me, I'm no VR46
