I bought my 1290 a couple of weeks ago. My dealer didn't set the clock/calendar on the bike, and when I did I noticed the map # was 2-20 on the screen. Since the bike thought it was 2013, I was wondering if I also have an old map. Does anyone know if this is the current map setting for KTM? I would hope that they have come out with one that sets the speedometer correctly too.

Theoretically ( and read theoretically) the diagnostic tool the dealer uses to load software in the bike (and diagnostics obviously) updates itself to the latest official version automatically when connected to the internet.
But since your dealer doesn't know how to set up the clock (sic.) I'm not sure of he knows to hang the ting on the internet from time to time....
I'll have a look when I get to the bike what version is in mine.

Comrades: The map you are referring to is the Instrument Cluster (VDO) Version: SW_V02-20 (<- EDIT wrong, see below) My bike which is a 12/13 bike purchased 02/14 has that map and as far as i'm concerned it is fine. I seem to recall that KTM has released an upgrade to try to address an issue where some bikes would restart with a different drive setting but that only broke other things.
To confess I have spent so much time looking at the guts of the ECU's that I wasn't aware that the Instrument Cluster Version could be seen anyhere other than in the ECU. So pray tell where do you see it?

I believe it comes up on the maintainance milage screen. There is the miles or KM's, next line is the months, and the bottom line is the 2.20, which you can't select or change.

Comrades: I'm afraid I have to issue a correction

I'll go in tomorrow to get rid of the reverse to street mode, I'll post an update with the latest software versions after that.

my bike was in last month getting the Akra map loaded.
I was speaking to the technician and he also said that he had installed two updates to my bike aswell as the akra map. One of the updates was to fix the "revert to Street mode".

I will have to check with my dealer. I had the Akra map installed a couple of months ago but software is still version 2.2 and reverts to street mode.

Comrades: Before this thread gets too far off track I need to make a point of clarification that the title "latest ECM map" is quite a misnomer. The topic is actually about the software version for the Instrument Panel. Even the idea of a map for the instrument panel is wrong insofar as the updates probably update the program rather than any data. It might update some data but the whole idea of maps is wrong for the instrument ECU as opposed to maps for the Engine Control Module (ECU) where it does apply.
I don't believe the number shown on the instrument panel has anything to do with the version of the "map" that we normally refer to.
In point of fact the 1290 has about five ECU modules:
One is for the Instrument Cluster (P10 in the wiring diagram).
One is for the Traction Control and ABS (A30in the wiring diagram).
One is or Ignition and Fuel Injection Control (A11 in the wiring diagram, the thing with maps).
One is a master control ECU (A10 in the wiring diagram).
One is the alarm module (A50 in the wiring diagram).
I believe the standard map (in Australia) to be: KM613EU14E0501 and the Akropovic map to be: KM613EU14E0531 but that has nothing to do with the topic of the instrument software version.

Half correct!
The bike has indeed 5 ecu's where the version 2.20 we are referring to here is in the main one.
Important to us are the main ECU and the engine ECU (Keihin). The Keihin ECU contains the normal or akra map and controls the fueling.
The main ECU is the one that controls the general working of the bike and also what appears on the dash.
The dash has his own ECU but as far as I know that software has never been upgraded, it merely interprets the data it receives.
The version in the main ECU that makes the bike revert to street mode all the time after switching off the ignition is V2.20.
As mentioned, I'll post back about the newer version which correct the issue after I'll get back this morning to get it uploaded.

Is there any way to check all the different map versions through the dash?

Jeremy
