1290 SDR fuel consumption?

Power, handling, safety, versatility...what about the low fuel consumption claim?
Have any of the new owners that finished the break-in period recorded miles/kilometers per tank yet? Miles per gallon? Kilometers per litre?

Does anyone really care about this? If so buy a scooter.
Still its got to be better than the current SD.

I always think the fashion on this forum is to claim you get as little miles to the tank as possible. Maybe a lot of people have no idea how much gas* they have in reserve.

I'm actually SO hardcore, I only get a meter from a full tank (06SD). I've run out before I've close the filler cap.
Since May 05 I've actually been living in front of a pump on Teco's forcourt.
I'm glad the WiFi is good here.

If you want truly shitty gas mileage, buy a Tuono V4 - 27 - 29 mpg. Do I win?

Buying anything bigger than a 600 and expecting economy is silly imo.

I would however be happy if they bike will see 200-220km on a tank for road riding so I can ride with most litre bikes. My Aprillia Dorso 750 was terrible, I'd only see 140km before the light would pop up making big rides with 'big' bikes somewhat hard. I could get between 180-220km out of the R1 which was perfect.

When you think about it though the engine is the same size used in some small cars but a car is pulling more weight around so you would think that you could get at least 50mpg from the SD.

I don't know WTF was wrong with my 2008 1098s but I would only get 100km's to a full tank before the light came on. It stopped me from doing big rides as well. Here's hoping the 1290r does 200km to a tank +

I don't get all these complaints about fuel consumption on the current SD though, I usually do between 13 and 16km per litre, around the same as my 450 supermoto and ZX636R and I don't commute or keep the front down either.

Having the right mapping does make a lot of difference though.

I usually got around 110 miles on a tank with my Diavel before the light came on. It would run dry at about 135 miles depending how hard I thrashed it.
It sounds like this is what I would get with the SDR too.

I did 110 quick miles before the light came on, but there's still two bars left on the fuel gauge.

6th gear is massively overdriven, so if you've the patience to cruise I suspect good mileage is possible.

This is only a part of route that I rode (you can see the speed and type of road) for about 200 km.The consumption was 6,3 L per 100km:

Still “Running In” my 1290 SDR - Gauge reads 40mpg (UK Gal.) and by my calculation it seems to be accurate.

Gauge says I have 170 mile range when full.

I would be more worried about keeping back tyres up the 1290.
This was the biggest problem on my old Hayabusa! Yum, Yum, more rubber to eat!
