1290 Superduke Gear Shift Touch Down

Hey guys, I was riding my local twisties today and had a pretty worrying hard touch of the shift lever . The lever is currently in the middle position so I could move it back to give me a little more clearance or I could also spend a fortune on rear sets, which really is a last resort. I wasn't even pushing very hard, which is very concerning as I want to track it as soon as i have the first service.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks

Stu

I've put about 2000 miles on mine now with some pretty enthusiastic twisty flogging (not a track tho) and have touched nothing. Rear tyre is (actually "was" - replaced at 1400) scuffed all the way to the edge. However, one of the very first things I did was to raise the shifter position (via threaded adjuster) quite a bit from the as-delivered position. It was very low. You might be able to gain some clearance there as long as it's not uncomfortable shifting. Just a thought. But boy, don't they flog well! )

I have my shift over cranked way up to get my big fat foot under it. I haven't dragged any bike parts but did drag the left side of my left boot which I have had happen on other bikes due to my wide feet. My buddy who was behind me on his Speed Triple said he flinched because from his perspective I looked like I was low siding. I will admit I over rode the corner but the tyres and suspension are really forgiving and I was on trailing throttle so no problem with what the rear was doing. This bike is way too much fun for an old guy.

Thanks for the info chaps.... I'm 170lbs, 5'10" but haven't touched the suspension yet. I'm going to set the sag and change the settings to sport, see if that makes a difference.

But bloody hell it really is an amazing bike... so confidence inspiring. Today I found that dragging my knee was super easy

When I got mine it was in the lowest position possible. With it like that I wouldn't be surprised it'd touch when leaning it over. Mines now as high as it can go then lowered just enough to not touch my foot.
