Hi Folks,
I have been looking for a clean SD990 for a couple of months now and have found one that maybe a keeper and am looking for a reality check on price. The bike is an 07 990 with 7k miles, good tyre and full Akropovic exhaust. One owner, garaged kept, great cosmetic condition and full service history. Owner is asking $7500 and I am thinking more $6000-6500. Have not made an offer yet but was what do we think is a fair price? (Mid Atlantic USA) Thanks in advance from a future SD owner.

Your price is more realistic than the sellers asking price.

The true value of something is only what someone is willing to pay for it, not what the seller asks.
Make him an offer around what you were thinking of, and be prepared to haggle. The worst he can say is "no". Could be that you end up mid-way between your respective prices (probably in the region of $7k). If you're too keen he'll know that you really want it, but his position isn't too secure if he doesn't have a queue of potential buyers heading to his door. Haggling is great fun as long as you don't end up going over what you wanted to set your limit at. If he plays hardball and sticks to $7.5k then be prepared to walk away and call him back in a week or two if he still hasn't sold it. There will ALWAYS be another one along sooner or later.
