2008 SDR vs Ducati Hypermotard SP

I currently ride 2008 SDR but have been looking at the updated 2013+ Ducati Hypermotard SP. Used those could be find in $10K range and I have been really thinking to say goodbye to the SDR and get HM SP.
Hypermotard SP comes with ABS, TC and few different riding and ABS modes. Also, starting 2013 those are liquid cooled with service intervals of 18K miles, which is much better than before. I love the SDR but the new HM SP is so amazing reading the spec. A little over 110HP and 66TQ. Which puts it very close to the SDR numbers.

What do you think?

I thought the SDR has 130hp to the wheel and 76 f/lb of torque. If you love the Ducati go for it. We won't judge.

I know this probably wont help but in 2007 I demo'd a brand new 1100 Hypemotard, a used 950 Supermoto and a brand new Superduke back to back and despite owning KTM's for over 30 years I ordered the Hypermotard, it had considerably less power than the KTM's but I preffered the overall feel of the bike.
Unfortunately mine turned out to be a "Friday Afternoon" build and it suffered multiple warranty and recall glitches so after 1800 miles I bailed

If you think your SDR gets bad range on a tank, wait till you ride the SP.

Got nothing against Ducatis but the Hyper is not an improvement, just my 2 cents!
Don't gel with that hypermotard thing neither, doesn't ride like a supermoto, adventure bike or a naked. Don't know what to make of it?!
If you still want something like that look at the aprilia dorsoduro 1200, more grunt and half the price!

the 1100 motor hypers were fun
The new 821 motor was a HUGE letdown for me, It feels like a sv650.

last year I rode the new street fighter and the hyper back to back. the streetfighter had a pipe and felt better (probably cause it was a litte more responsive and didnt sound like a sewing machine) It wheelied fine.. but the HYPER SUCKED. Apparently you can turn it off, but the traction control literally cut the power mid wheelie EVERYTIME. They ruined that bike with all the new shit on it. It was a fun hooligan bike with dirt bike ergo's when it first came out. Now you have to fook around with he ecu/abs buttons every time you ride unless you like riding a scooter. Supposedly the tank is a bit bigger and some sites are claiming 145mi before your walking? I have a buddy w/a new one I'll ping him on range per tank.

I'd say go ride one before you let your SD go.

I'd skip the hyper and get a multistrada.

I'm selling my '12 Hypermotard EVO SP to fund the 1290 that I bought last month. I wish I could keep both. The Hyper was nice, but the 1290 suits me better, more power, lower seat height, more comfortable, and better for the occasional track day. Good luck!

All I can say is go year one/a few and see if it suits what you're after.

After all, variety is the spice of life...... And all that crap.....
