2014 KTM prices

I do worry KTM are going to struggle with that 14k price tag against the other nakeds. Maybe they aren't too worried in 2014 if they don't have the stock available anyway. I'd expect a price drop or 2015.

Buy for full whack in March, watch the same bike get heavily discounted in Oct / Nov. It's been the KTM way here for years.

Still $5k cheaper than a Multistrada or about the same price a demo model Diavel. Think this might bring a few new people into the fold.
Expecting to take a bit of a hit on a new one but by far my biggest worry is that with KTM's marketing we might see this go the way of Ducati or Harley with people buying into the image and not the bike.

25K on the road in Oz for the 1290, and bugger all for your trade in. The dealer had an '05 on the lot, sold for 7K, so about 5K for the punter.

But having said that, the dealer said five 1290s are sold already (here in march) and only one of them to a present KTM customer, the other four to new KTM customers.

For that sort of money I hope KTM are using stainless steel fasteners instead of the usual crap.

You all need to remember that something is only worth what your willing to pay for it.
If no one buys it the price will drop if it sells well then usually there will be a price increase.

Prices comparison in Oz.

KTM 1290 SD $23 500 +ORC (=$25k)
Aprillia Tuono $20 990 +ORC
MV Agusta 1090RR Brutale $23 490 ride away
Ducati Streetfighter S $30 990 ride away
KTM 1190 Adventure $20 995 +ORC

Priced similarly in the naked market but I dont really understand why it is $3k more than the Adventure when the ADV comes with electronic suspension and share most of the other electronics with the SD.
Why? Coz they can.

If everyone complained about the price and cancelled their orders then the price would drop to what it really should be.
I think the importers need a kick up the rear.
Its like Arai and shoei why is Arai so much more expensive in Australia then Shoei when in Japan they are nearly the same price? Its the importers!
I have a mate who is a importer not of bike stuff and he has big margines on his wholesale items.
But I suppose this is business and like I said its only worth what your willing to pay for it.
Its the nature of the beast

Curious, here in the US, dealers tack, or try to tack, shipping costs and set up (assembly) costs onto the MSRP. These charges can add up to $1500-$2000 to the price of a bike. Do dealers in other countries add these same charges?

in spain i have paid €14,300.00 for mine all in. i think in GBP that is around 11,900.00

still a lot of money in my opinion but it was either this or the tuono V4 which the new one for 2014 is listed at €15,800.00 all in.

can now get 2012 models for €10,495.00 for the V4.

Another thing that needs to be considered is the import taxes levied on the manufacturer that's importing the goods. These are rolled into the MSRP in a lot of countries.

There seems to be some funny stuff going arround about the price of the new SD in oz, depending on who you ask.
The ADV is officially 21k or so but with on road it ads up to 23k here in Qld.
Two dealers I asked told me that the SD will be a fair bit more expensive and be probably 27K on road in Qld.
Not sure how accurate that is but for me that is way too pricey, even 25 is high for a naked bike.
We'll see when they eventually land down under, that is if they ever do...

I reckon the best deal would be to import a 1290 from Spain after it's 6 months old... :O

New York motorcycle show announced $16,999 for the 1290 SDR. Yes....no.....who knows. I have a deposit on one in my area, but dealer stated no price has been received by KTM yet. Most US dealers have not even sat on a SD 1290 yet. In fact, most have been invited to California in early February to test ride the bike for the first time.

I am getting a little nervous myself. Seems there is little info coming out from the dealers. I was also told that the dealer would most likely only get three maybe four.....supply vs demand! Price goes up up up and away!

Don't worry about it too much guys - my dealer in the UK mentioned 14k as a ballpark but wouldn't commit to it until KTM confirmed either. I'd be cagey about pricing a product to the public if I didn't have cost price in writing from the manufacturer...
