They are different bikes with different issues.
I come to this site for the bike I own now, not for someone else's ....issues.
This site lost its "feel" to me when the new bikes came about.
Just sayin'.

I've never witnessed such divide between comrades on a bike specific forum. Sure you'll always have the "groups" that focus predominantly on their vintage but generally participate as a whole with all the regulars and new comers of the forum. Our bikes share the same DNA brothers, as do we.. is there a need for such segregation?

Let me try this again.
I was asking if there was a need to have separate directories to split between new and old models. That's it...EZPZ.
And I guess there is ? ? I will have to look....so far it looks like it's all jumbled together...sorry if I am mistaken.
I have not been hanging on this site as much as others...it' summer here I am out riding... yea....another dual meaning.
As for the comment that got me fired off from ASS Man...we have some bad history where he wished a bus run would over me or some shittt.
I don't wish that on anyone...and don't hang with the likes that do.
I do not read any of his post, and I wish the same to him.
later.........

Many other forums have sections for different models/marks, they are a necessity to try to group together/not get lost problems and questions relevant to only one particular model/mark.
Sure, some of the 1290 questions are getting asked in the old sections, but this is down to guys new to the forum not knowing their way around.
As for any animosity towards the other type of bike, ie 990 to 1290, visa-versa, well you're all inferior to mine what with it being a mkI that started of the whole shebang! Now bow down bitches!

It seems a certain MODERATOR has again sabotaged a simple question, simply because he's (apparently) borderline illiterate - ? Not the first time folks have received reactionary, poorly considered responses in threads by said MODERATOR. I anticipate an impressive trail of shit to follow these remarks. I digress ...
I think the aspect of segregating some of the 1290's technical issues is appropriate, and in-place. I ask (it's a question ladies - not a complaint, whine, or statement): Is additional segregation needed between 990 and 1290 interests on this forum?
Riding experiences (I would hope ...) transcend what you ride. As such, most everything non-technical about the ownership and use of either 990s or 1290s is common. That stated, why segregate anything further? I personally see no reason for a rift. If people want to be "cliquish", by bike model, what they do with the bikes, or by regions or nation - I don't really care (and some on SD.net certainly are).
Regarding "attitude" - SuperDuke ownership is somewhat about attitude. These bikes were never intended for the masses. Nor for those who want to just cruise around lazily from one watering hole to another. That is not to state that one can't do this, or tour, or race, or track, or whatever floats one's boat. But does anyone other than me remember the "hooligan" aspect of owning one of these things? Am I the last person that rides a SuperDuke daily; to-from work; run errands on; and often rip around town because it's point-and-squirt qualities are so much fun?
Yes, the site of late seems inundated with 1290 problems, and a seemingly endless trail of inquiries about 1290 exhausts and other bling. Little in the way about riding and other experiences using the 1290s (and with few exceptions, 990s as well), from their owners. This is not a criticism, only an observation.
Forums are what their registrants make of them. Sort of like "you are what you eat". Contribute well, and everyone benefits.

I think that its natural for the site content to be dominated by 1290 stuff for awhile... My only complaint is that some of my favorite characters on SDnet have been pretty quiet lately. Loved Mr. Bicknell's latest ride report though, and I would love to see more of such threads, regardless of bike.
Dear mods, have we ever considered a "ride reports" category? A good ride report takes a bit of effort and its a shame for a good one to be lost in the shuffle of General Banter. Just a thought. The 990SD makes an excellent minimal-touring rig in my recent experience. I'm sure the 1290 will be the same, and it would be great to collect the open road stories and photos in one place...

Perhaps you need to work on your comprehension. Though I figure you aren't dumb enough to realise the original intent of the post (later trying to be covered up by another post) and just love any chance you get to speak your opinion of me (I'm flattered, as always).
I should start calling you Ironhead. I'll let you figure that one out.
There's absolutely no need to separate the forum any further than keeping the technical forums separate.

Good eye 81Forest. Yep, same bike. It's my bud brothers bud. Nice bike.
Nice riding in north eastern Oregon, eh Forest ? Did a nice Adventure ride there this summer. Did the Rat Dog last weekend in north west Oregon....nice also...
Last year my bud and I rode up the east side of the Washington Cascades and over Hwy 20, dropped into Seattle which sucks by the way, spent the night and the brother and his bud who owns this bike rode back home to Oregon with us. We did part of the Mountain Man Festival of Curves thru FS25 and spent the night in Hood River. You been over that Hood River Bridge ? ? Holy Shikee ! Cheese Gratted decking, windy......Some m/c tyres really don't like this decking and sticks to a line that you have to fight to get out of. Ya got to do it for shitts and grins at least once....oh maybe twice cause you have to get back to Washington ....

A good time for you to make your next trip into Oregon is when the Chief Joseph BMW Rally is on. This year it was June 12-16. 500-600 like mined riders camp out at John Day Fair Grounds. Good vendors, tyre mounting, classes to improve your riding skills, a place to camp, shower. Provided food for dinners plus food to buy. It's a great place to do your base camp, come back hungry, get fed and crash out. Most riders are doing the same, and very few ass hoes to deal with keeping you up at night. I have seen some people who had to craw to their tents tho, too pie eyed to walk.

Yeah, you have to forgive some of the mods, we were all young dickheads once. They will grow up eventually and work it all out
Probably how my IP address was banned, just taking one final look round before retiring to the other KTM forums so see what goes as I am bored now.....
Maybe a new bike and new forum is on the horizon, done the KTM thing now for 25,000k's
