Bought a 990 SDR a few months ago. Did this bike come from the factory with a slipper clutch? If not, I guess the previous owner installed an aftermarket. Just like to know what's inside.
thanks.

990's came with a conventional clutch.
Best way to check is take 3rd gear to the limiter then slam down to first

Simple to just put the bike on side stand and whip the clutch cover off. It won't leak any oil at that angle. You'll be able to see if it's got a slipper fitted and what make it is.

Yeah, I did some high rev downshifts and it sure felt like a slipper; no rear wheel lock, chatter etc... feels a lot like my old Aprilia Mille.
thank you for the comments and advice on pulling the clutch cover.

If its got a slipper you will feel it 'pulsing' through the clutch lever when you drop back a gear and come off the throttle. If you're pushing hard, that is.

My 990 has a slipper clutch fitted.
If mine is anything to go by you can easily tell just by running the motor. Mine sounds like a bag of nails, pull in the clutch and silence returns, let it out and it clatter all the way.
Works perfectly, bought new and was factory fitted so I'm assuming they all do that.

Think you need to remove damper on inner face of clutch cover.

I could never go back to a SD without a slipper. It makes a great bike fooking awesome when pushing on.
