I would appreciate some feed back on this exhaust (see link below). This has probably been an "exhausted" topic (no pun intended https://www.ebay.com/itm/Exhaust-silenc ... Sw0wJcL6-W

thanks for your feedback in advance,
Steve

I too would be interested in a review. It seems to me that you can hardly go wrong at the price they are looking for. I removed the dead weight off of my original SuperDuke and installed Graves exhaust which at the time was purely experimental exhaust. There were a few that got into the SD exhaust aftermarket equation. Leo Vince, Mivv, Yoshimura, Graves, and a few more reputable exhaust makers. I honestly believe you cannot go wrong as I am sure that they will supply a few more horses and the weight savings alone would be substantial improvement. The Y-pipe looks good the pipes look like they may be a bit short. I wonder if you contacted them if they have a picture they can post uo showing how they look. There is a set of used Slip on Akropovic's for $1000 and a full set of headers and cans with a make offer listing. I do not believe that you need more than slip ons and Y-pipe. Buy the set you linked us to and write up a review for us. Livermore Huh? I was born in Livermore. You work out at the lab? Are you a propeller head?
Good luck.

I just went back to the link and looked at the pictures. I think that the way they harness the cans is shit. This is probably an indication of how much value they put into other engineering techniques and tasks to create such a cheap pile.
They do have a big R on the side which is either to tell you it is the right can or it is Ready to Recycle. Hold tight good thing come to those who wait. You've only owned the bike for less than two weeks, go buy and install some rim tape

Thanks Dribble D....
I wonder of the quality , but only for a minute. My main objective is to get some noise over stock... and if reduces weight... great. I don't need anymore performance. at ~ 400bucks depending on which ebay deal you go for (some of them indicate ...made in Poland)... who cares. If i get a usable y-pipe... perhaps if the mufflers are crap... i could just buy some "cans" from else where ? (or find them used etc) ?

I don't work at the Lab... but i wish i did. I take the ace train daily to San Jose... and take part in the Si Valley hamster wheel race !!!

I think you live in God's country. I went to school at Cal Poly... and constantly drove the road btwn there and Santa Barbara and Ventura !!!

Thanks for your input !

... also,... i want noise for "safety" on the hi-way. I am a believer that if you let people know you are coming ... they'll be a smidgen more alert....and "looking" for you. Also... i would be interested in a 1290 set up..... I saw a picture (maybe on this forum) showing a 990 with a single can set up (kind of like a 1290). Lastly, if i could ream out, modify the existing stock exhaust... that would be great. I don't think that is trivial !?? Again... don't care about the weight... just want some more dB's....

We appear to be headed down opposite paths. I ran Graves exhaust on my last SD and they were about as loud and obnoxious as a person had a right to run. That was cool when I was trying to keep up with the other orange and black colored motorcycles db coolness ratings. The super plus side was the lightening of the motorcycle. When and if you finally remove the stock exhaust you will be surprised how flipping heavy or is that hefty they are. You will soon change your mind as to which performance upgrade the switch out bested.
I now have the stock exhaust and love the sound just the way it is. If I were to modify my exhaust it would be to lesson weight only. this exhaust conundrum is in itself a hamster wheel race and I'm afraid it is a race to the bottom. Contact Remus exhaust. Look them up. I think that their North American headquarters is in Oakland. If you care at all to accessorize your steed in a manner befitting its heritage, you will fashion it in Akropovic exhaust. We need you to tow the company line. Austria is going through some tough political and financial times right now and it would behoove you to help them out. Red Bull, KTM, and Akropovic do not move outside this equation. If you must then Remus is Austrian and you'll be okay.
Many of my son's high school class mates graduated from Cal Poly. Most of my work as a carpenter is in San Luis county for commercial construction. I am currently working on the new SLO Hotel and my wife and I love SLO.
Welcome in and even though i think your headed down a bad path its a path that includes the SD so carry on.

How do !?
Sorry Dribble .... gosh... got so busy with life... hardly time to meander round the internet... inclusive of SD.net !? Sad case these days with the world of running around on the hamster wheel to keep up !? Haven't done anything in terms of egggggs-hawwwwst. Waiting for a bonus (from work) that is supposed to hit this month. Also thinking i should do canistorectomy... etc... and open up some intake flow. So, I mull round various inet sites to decide what, where (to buy), how to do it (retrofit.... when the parts come!).... Any advice on key items to get for making the machine run better would be appreciated (if you have the time). I am sure i can search and eventually arrive at some conclusion... but always good to hear the latest analysis.

Did change the oil last week. Always feels better after buying something used ! Also, finally got to DMV to get legal (after 2 years being in CA with AZ license ! )... Lock me up !!!

I'll update when i finally figure the exhaust upgrade out... still on the fence on what to get. Seems not so much availability as compared to probably 10 years ago !? I also wonder if exhaust fits on SM, SE, Adventure bikes... can it fit Super Duke (of similar year) ?

Thanks for the ping !
best
steve

Dribble duke,
Sound advice . I just need to make up my mind. I do agree buying the cheap exhaust from Czech or Poland is probably not the best route. Looks like there are exhausts form GPR, mivv , akropovic, graves etc... i just need to decide which one. O5 duke listed the link to the thread that listed all upgrades... that's super helpful....

this weekend, built a ramp to raise the front 50 cm so i can burp the coooling system as i change out the coolant/water blah blah blah....

more when i know it....
take care,
Steve

Hi Guys,
Just thought I'd add my twopennyworth on these exhaust from Poland
I've just had a set arrive and I've got to say for the money they're not bad at all, ok a couple of the brackets could be made out of something a bit sturdier but the quality of the silencers and the standard of welding on the 'Y' piece is really good, once mounted they are rock solid with no sign of flimsiness and look pretty cool too, for £250 delivered they appear to be great value for money and if you want to save a bit of cash order them from e-bay Poland, I did and saved another £15.
Cheers
Rich

I was lucky to have bought a used 2008 990SDR with a full titanium Akrapovic exhaust and headers. Wow, what a piece of art. It doesn't even pick up any dirt or discoloration. Just pure blue. Unfortunately you probably can't get this system anymore and it would have been there Grand or so, but so awesome. Otherwise, I would easily go for anything East European for an exhaust. Always good quality and similar perfomance

Cakeman (Rich), Motoyoyo,..... thanks for the input.
Man, <out of breath > , I am exhausted writing all the sellers on E-bay to ask if their silencers/mufflers (set) include a y-pipe that will connect with stock KTM header pipe ? You would think those that offer exhaust systems would have an easy answer... maybe even a drawing or Parts list available !??? I got at least a good drawing from Mivv dealer.... but trying to get on the same page with an ebayer representing GPR has me pulling the rest of my hair out. Have been very temped to just order the "Dominator" from Poland and be done. Certainly helps to hear they actually fit up (even if bracket are flimsy).

However, i like the gpr black (or Mivv) for that matter, exhaust cans. So i will go a little longer with trying to get adequate info.

I'lll keep you posted where I land !?:

thx
steve

Finally !! It only took almost 9 mo to pull the trigger... but alas. I went frugal... saved $$ over buying even used Akrapovic. I bought the Dominator . Transaction was so smooth. Ordered on ebay... delivered to my door in 7 days (shipping included). I figured for the price, the installation was going to be a nightmare. Not true. It probably took me ~ less than two hours... and most time was spent removing the old stock unit cat. and all. Haven't ridden yet, but started and rev'd. Definitely loud enough which is what i wanted. Also bought a simple tail tidy billet aluminium bracket set up, and some cheap mini turn signals. Got all installed. All good except turn signals don't work. I wonder if I have positive/power wire reversed? The turn signals are LED...so perhaps it makes a difference which direction the juice is flowing. The LED license plate light works good.

Dribble D....
? 15 min idle? On start up? In the wrong weather, that get's engine temp up pretty warm (fan's kick on).... What is 15 min idle for?

Just searched a bit. see it has to do with auto adjust of ecu? However, i rode the bike today.... idle was normal. first start when cold, high idle for about 30 seconds, then automatically kicks down to normal ? btwn 1000 and 1500 rpm (I think, i just listen, sounded normal). should i still do 15 min idle if running ok?
thx
