Aftermarket exhaust overkill for street (for me)?

Been reading a few threads on 1290 exhausts, full and slip-on.

Hoping to get an objective opinion from those who were on the fence or may have buyer's remorse. I'm more of a "go and less show" kind of guy and all the youtube sound clips are either too loud or they do sound nice (Akra) but for $2500 msrp?! A little about me....

I don't track my 1290. I only use it for street use, mostly short rides running errands and commuting.
Live in a very nice neighborhood with an alley loaded garage, and I value my relationship with neighbors. Some have commented how my bike is quiet and they appreciate not having "that loud neighbor."
The bike is light enough and I believe some full exhaust shed 20 pounds? I've never said "man, what a great bike, but it's too heavy."
I can get dealer cost on anything so money isn't an issue, but I am fiscally conservative. Rather use the money for tyres, gas, other hobbies.
I've never felt the 1290 needed more power for street use. I'm 165 pounds and it pulls nicely everywhere (tongue in cheek Captain Obvious statement).

My last bike had Arrow slip-ons that were not obnoxious but they were part of the season ending bike sale. Never would've bought them, they were lighter but had no impact on performance. My other bikes had obnoxiously loud exhausts during my years of being a sportbike douchecanoe.

So what exactly am I gaining by putting more power or torque on an already light and powerful motorcycle? I've raced motorcycles and cars for decades, and for on-track use an exhaust is one of the mandatory mods. But for street use is it purely subjective: sound and looks? I should add my new high hp sports car was optioned with the aftermarket exhaust because the sound is intoxicating....and I don't race nor "need" the marketed advantages. It makes me laugh and giggle each time I bury the throttle. But a car can be driven quietly and a bike like the 1290 can do more social harm than good; I cringe each time a sportbike races by with ear shrieking exhaust.

Maybe I'm thinking aloud. Not trying to put down anyone's choice. It's your money. Is there an option with proven on-street improvement down low and mid that can be used without turning into the neighborhood ahole?

I have Akra slip-on. With the DB it is really nice and mild sound. A little bit louder than the stock exhaust. However, once you remove the DB Killer, it is on the loud side. I can take some db measurements as of now if you would like. It isn't as loud as my ducati with full termi. Which makes my ears ring when I ride it for more than hour.
