Anyone run Akrapovic without the inserts / baffles?

I pulled the quiet inserts out of my Akrapovic cans tonight, just to see what they look like.

Will the bike be obnoxiously loud to ride around without them out (UK roads btw)?

I know I could just try it & see but I'm not planning to put her back on the road for a few weeks yet. Just wondering if any fellow UK riders run without the baffles?

I run without..I bought my slip ons second hand and haven't got any DB killers.
I have ridden past / next to cops a few times and they don't seem to notice (I kept the revs down though).
Theres heaps of bikes that are way too loud especially Harleys that seems like they have no baffles at all. So I get the impression cops aren't too focused on it.
Mine are loud enough for most drivers to notice I'm coming up behind them too... well apart from the muppets with headphones and those drivers totally ignorant of their surrounding.

Both SDRs run without baffles - round Akras are much louder, 'basssier' and ''boomier' (better looking also imho) than the Evo but that could be 'cos former have done close to 100k miles and need repacking - never had any complaints/comments except from motorcycle cop saying race SDR was best sounding bike he'd ever heard........before busting me for speeding.

I'll give it a go then.
I ride with earplugs..., I just don't want to make it that everyone else has too also.

You could take the muffler off & it wont be loud, the catalytic converter does about 90% of the noise suppression, leave the muffler off & start it, you will see it isnt that loud at all

I'm pretty sure there is no cat on my exhaust.
The lambda sensors have been removed and she's been remap'ed (via PCIII) so my thinking is if any cat was in there it'd be dead now, so I think it's likely I have the non-cat version of the Akra pipes.
She also smells like there is no cat in the exhaust, old school stinky petrol engine smell rather than the squeaky clean smell my Vstrom makes.

I have always run my Akras without baffles. Both the round cans and Evo cans. But if you are doing a custom map on a dyno then you really need to decide which you will run the most as they need different fuel/ air settings. Mine is mapped for without but on tracks like Brands Hatch you need to run with baffles so it will be a bit rich. Also for some MOT stations you need to fit the baffles to pass.

Well I couldn't resist hearing how she'd sound with the baffles out so rolled her out on driveway and fired her up - lovely!
Much freer sounding, and maybe even freer revving. Can't explain the sound difference but I think the baffle really choke the pipes, the baffles added a kind of tappiness to the sound.
The outlet have gone from 31mm to 48mm so no doubt she's breathing better.

I think she has been running rich and guess she was mapped with them out.

Reason for thinking this is in the short time I've run her, a section of one can has started to discolour due to heat - for this to have just started to happen something must have changed, like the baffles being fitted. I guess the PO installed them for the trading in, or the shop installed them.
Finally the baffles were very clean considering, the pipe insides have much more carbon on them that the baffles did.

I suppose I'd know for sure once I road test her, which isn't until at least March, though it has been a lovely day today.

I run my 990 without baffles in the Akras (slip on cans not full system).

It's loud, but not stupidly loud. I'll put them in for MOT time in a month, then take them back out. Love the sound.

"I suppose I'd know for sure once I road test her, which isn't until at least March, though it has been a lovely day today"

Kick the tyres and get out there - compared to last few weeks, it feels almost like spring, dry(ish) roads and warm(ish), and even better apparently next week.
