Not an apples to apples comparison and not looking for pros and cons of each, but wondering if any 1290 owners also ride a 690 KTM. Was thinking about a new 690 Enduro R for city riding and local twisties including to/from the local ski resort mountain (16 miles each way of curves) and errands in town.

I haven't rode one yet although several in town have offered theirs. I was told in the most aggressive map the 690 is scary fast from about 20mph (once weight gets moving) to 100. I don't expect it to replace the 1290 for long high speed pavement weekends, and the 1190R is overkill for my needs, but having ridden 450 MX bikes since 2002 the 690 appears, at least on paper, to be a good option.
