Really?

Guessing they have only focused on initial ride then, rather than the finished product, looking at the amount of things that are below par on them going off this site.

Best street bike I have ever owned by a large margin. The motor is nuts. Zero issues so far with my bike.

Gotta agree dflowers, been riding for 35 years and never enjoyed a bike as much as this one. On rainy days I find myself standing in the garage patting the seat with a wistful look........ This is the definition of perfection.

LMAO

MotorcycleUSA ... What can I say: Your beloved 1290s didn't manage to beat out their pick for "Motorcycle of the Year 2014" - the Honda Grom. My personal fave was their pick for "Best Touring Bike 2014" - the Harley-Davidson Ultra Limited

Clearly, the folks at Motorcycle USA love pain - and the advert $$.

I found out the hard way not to trust bike mag dribble!

Regardless of what the bike mags say, in my books this is definitely the best road bike. I can comfortably do a 500 km run with it while my mate takes his Multistrada, then next weekend go scratch through the twisties and keep with his BMW1000RR and also have great fun shooting through town where he will swop to his BMW1000S. My mate bought 4 bikes to do the various things and of the 4 the only one I cannot match is the KTM 990 Adventure. Seems only having one bike to do the work of 3 and it brings huge smiles and always gets the crowds every where we go tells me it is the best all round.

The bike mags are there as a guide only, never just read one to get a view on a bike but read a number of them from different countries. Each country will favor their own, the British mags favor Triumph, Americans will be Hardly Dangerous, German will be BMW.........except 1000PS who compared the SD to the 1000R and declared the 1000R the best bike but if you want an exciting bike with character then you have to take the KTM.

I am confused as to why the magazine that decided our bike, which we chose and love is now being slated because they chose it? Remember it is America, different riding conditions and styles to Europe, Australia etc so their choices will not necessarily make sense in other countries. But just look at how many countries have mags that have chosen the SDR as either best road bike or as the Bike Bike of the Year. They did in South Africa too. They can't all be idiots and wrong, and if they are then are we idiots and wrong for also choosing the bike?
