Morning all, I've recently upgraded from an '01 SV650 to an '07 SD 990 and while it's an awesome machine and in excellent shape, there's a few things about it that seem slightly odd....
For a start it has 2 keys, one for the ignition, one for the tank and seat. Next up, it has 'R' fairings when it's a non-R, but also the colour scheme is not one I can find elsewhere, with black and white panels, a black frame and a silver swingarm.
It's in such great condition I'd be really surprised if it had been significantly rebuilt, so I'm wondering how much of it could have left the factory as-is or if there's something fishy happening.
There's no sign it's ever fallen over, the mileage is low and service history correct...

My guess would be you've got a late registered 06 bike, hence the non radial front brake calipers and the silver swing arm.
Someone has gone to the trouble to upgrade the headlight and maybe also the dash, fuel tank & shrouds and then either changed the seat or the ignition.
I think it was a common upgrade to make the earlier versions look more like the later ones but also to use the 07 onwards larger fuel tank.

Yeah there has been some significant work done to that bike. Can you post some more pics from different angles.
I love playing guess the parts.

Nice clean bike.
The pipes look a little odd, almost as if they are upside down?

Tank, white SDR radiator covers from 07. White side panels under seat from Euro 07+. Healight/nose from 07+
Luvely smoked tail light. Luvely Rizoma handlebars.
Anodised aluminium brake fluid caps.
CF Engine covers.
Swingarm (Silver) from 06 or 07.
Shorty brake/clutch levers.
--------------------------------------
Sorry I don't have a picture of my bike by itself.
See the stickers under the tail piece/seat on mine are the same as yours but my tail piece and seat are for the SDR.

Very clean bike.
The only thing that concerns me is it looks like your brake and clutch plungers we're modified.
The push rod between the lever and perch is much longer than any I've seen.
You can tell who ever replaced the levers had a hard time with a screw driver trying to pull the rubber boot over the plunger.

Biggest thing that matters is the 10th character of the VIN or the model year of the FRAME. That's what it is legally everywhere in the world. Then we go to the components and figure out if they match the frame VIN. What is the 10th and only the tenth character/number of the VIN. (don't post the entire VIN)

Non-radial front brake calipers make it a 2005/2006 IMO just to start with. The first digit of the engine number will be the model year also.
