DribbleDuke
I seem to have a charging issue, I can't work it out.
Battery holds charge when optimate used.
12.8v
Bike starts fine, on 5k rpm, I get 14.8v, but it is inconsistent, sometimes it drops to 11.8-11.4v. This is probably the issue, but I can't work out why, as sometimes it is fine.
I have checked the reg rectifier. Negative to the three diodes is consistent (470) reversed is 0
Positive is the same across all three, reversed 0.
I have checked all connections, and all are good.
I would have thought it is the rectifier, but looking at the tests that can be carried out, it checks out good, so I am stumped.
This has only started happening since I changed some bits, put LSL bars on, so removed the switchgear, had to remove the mask, disconnecting all the connectors, however I have verified they are all connected correctly, 3 times...
I have just put on the hard wire optimate cable and noticed that the previous owner had one there, but it had melted the plastic, and the connectors were bare, I have obviously removed it, and tried testing without my new one connected to rule that out.
I didn't want to shell out on a new reg rectifier if I can't be sure it is that. Battery seems fine, I will get a new one but this seems fine at the moment.
Any ideas chaps?
