Considering: track day wheels

Considering a set of wheels for track days so I can more easily and quickly ensure I have fresh rubber for the day(s) and not feel bad about pulling off my street tyres with plenty of street life in them. Is this a worthwhile idea?

Other considerations, of course, are what to get if'n I do. I've heard varying praise for aluminium, carbon, and mag rims with varying degrees of wallet emptying power. I'm not a very quick track rider and have a ways to improve. I'm a bit concerned that the investment in hi-performance wheels would be perhaps wasted on my current skillset compared to a rider who already has quite competitive skills/need (as in someone who actively races).

In any case, I'll be finishing this summer on one set of wheels and do some winter thinking. Any advice welcomed good sirs

If you do enough days its worth it to save the expense and hassle of queuing to change tyres on the day. I'm trying to sort it this year so I can have a wet setup. Currently have a spare rear wheel (kindly donated to me ) but need a front. Just going for standard wheels though.

If its only for a few days I wouldn't bother at it'll take a lot of tyre changes to come to the cost of a pair of wheels!

thx for the good feedback all. was interested to hear how worthwhile it'd be to get another set of stockers vs anything else. i'm trying not to gather an excess of spares for everything and trying to keep it all practical. sounds like my skills def won't make $2-4k wheels worth the investment currently or frankly ever on this bike, which I'm totally cool with.

Just an idea;
What about going in with another SD rider on a set. Could this be any sollution. Or better yet, what about renting them out to another SD tracker.
How much is a spare set of wheels?

The SD Co-op! I was asking the wrong question all along. Who wants to share their best rims for my upcoming trackdays for 2 weeks? I'd be willing to pick them up within a 100 mile radius and return them with the pressures of your choosing. Being a new rider, i'll even return them with plenty of chicken strip to scrub off at your next event.

Another set of standard wheels.

Trick wheels are nice but if you are riding the bike with one set then the other it'll feel different.
