Crash protection for 990SD? (and Hello)

Hello everyone,

This is my first post so will give wite a little introduction. I used to have a KTM 690 SM Prestige, that I sold about 6 months ago because I needed a car desperately.. now the summer came, realised the car was a bad choice for its ridiculous fuel consumption (Bimmer 330ci), and due to many circumstances a bike will be more practical for the following year..

After reading a lot of good reviews, I felt like the 990SD would be an appropriate bike for me and I just bought a 2011 model with 3000 miles on it, orange with Akra pipes of course! Anyways to the point.. What crash protection would you recommend me getting for the bike? I just ordered GB racing upper and lower frame sliders. Would this be enough do you think, or should I also get bar end sliders and front/rear axle sliders?

I won't be doing track days anytime soon, but just wondering in terms of part replacement costs in case of a crash. I believe the two I bought are the most important but should I get more in your opinion?

Just trying to calm down a bit with the spending, just recently ordered the sliders, short clutch/brake levers, iphone holder for sat nav, gps tracker.. still need to buy new tyres and a new helmet :[ expensive! I do have an AGV AX-8 Dual Evo helmet, it was perfect for the 690 but very uncomfortable at +70mph :S

Hello,

I have the front and rear axle sliders and believe they will do the job as intended.

I've not tried them (Thankyouverymuch) and do not plan in the near future.

They came with the bike when I bought it in January, but I believe they are fairly inexpensive.

The upper and lowers you ordered will do the trick.

This one held up pretty well (better than his gear).
Just remember they are "sliders" but don't slide it into the soft stuff. The bike starts thinking it's an acrobat at that point.
