I have a lot SDR left over from my race sale... I'm thinking pf making a complete custom motorcycle.
Now I saw an idea 2 years ago... Is it stealing to copy it a little?
I like the basic premise but want to take it in a different direction...
I don't want to steal another guys dream

If his idea inspired you but you are taking it in a different direction than that's fine for me.

My only reservation is that he hasn't finished yet... Feels like I'll be cutting his grass

I'm thinking of selling the SD, buying a scruffy RC8 and making an SD8. I'm sure lots of people have done that before but this one would be mine.

We are all standing on the shoulders of giants all the time. If you fancy it then go for it and have fun

We are all inspired by other people's work and accomplishments. As a designer I am often aware of others approaches and methods when I am creating my own work. But there is a huge difference between being influenced and inspired and just slavishly copying someone else's work. You know the difference mate, just be true to your own dreams and vision and you will create something unique and personal and admirable.

Oh. One other thing.

I always acknowledge inspirational sources. At the start and at the end of a project. It's a form or respect really. As I would wish to be credited if roles were reversed and my work had inspired others. You have already done this so good start!

As Bic says! It's ok to use an idea as long as credit is given.
