Went for a ride today with a buddy on his modded Hayubusa- he punctured a new Diablo Corsa. Had to ride double back to town, rent a trailer, drive back out, pick up the bike, drive back to town, return the trailer. All because for the first time I don't carry a repair kit under my seat like I have for 20 years because there's no room, and I never thought to throw it in my bag. I blame technology for the lack of space under motorcycle seats

I do carry a plug kit and a pump I can connect to the battery chargers pig tail. The only time I had to use it was to help a buddy with a S1000RR that rides with slicks on the street and picked up a nail on a rear.
I started carrying this kit because one time I was on my SV 650 on a solo ride, and approximately 35 miles away from my house, I picked up a nail in my rear tyre and I had to ride 20 miles an hour all the way back to my house.
No fun.

That sucks, why didn't you guys buy a repair kit instead of doing all that?
I don't carry a repair kit just a Triple A card and a credit card.
BassAgent has every wrench under 14mm under his seat, they jingle around in the canister spot and break his tail section lol.

I picked up a nail on the highway at about 90 mph while going to meet some friends for an early morning sortie. No kit.....nowhere to fit it under the seat of a Husqvarna SMS! Luckily my awesome wife hooked up the trailer and came and rescued me!

I don't but i know i should, purchase this week now that i have a reminder It would be nice to have a little more room under the seat of the 990's. What is the 1290 like for space compared to the 990?

The charcoal canister takes up nearly all the space under the 1290 seat. Without it, you could fit the oem tool kit, and perhaps a small flat repair kit.
