Just watched the video of the SMR single sided swing arm fabrication. Bloody amazing work - they cut the SMR's swing arm and keep the front/bearing portion and weld on the back part of a Ducati swing arm! Here's the kink to the video (don't know how to embed as my German is scheiße!

Yeah. That method is amazing. While I was watching I was thinking about my TIG Welding.
My conclusion was that I wouldn't trust ME to weld a lever on a machine that would be travelling at over 200 kph.

I guess I've just got a pathological survival instinct

My neighbor friend has a S4RS and I would be hard pressed to think of a single item on his bike that I would carry over to my SD to create a better machine. I might get the machine for the sake machinery, but machine to head backwards seems foolhardy.
If in some MadMax way a junkyard monkee managed to frankenstienfurter a bike from two non running piles then ride it into the sunset i would have my hat tipped to such ingenuity.
Funny I could see improvement to the Ducati shoveling an extra axle attachment on them. Lord knows I spend a fair time tinkerfucking around in my dusty dungeon, I am the least able to spew on about anothers wasted endeavors. Wrench away in jest

jjlester_74

Not 100mm as only 60mm from sd-R 2008

Ducati Pete

Ducati Pete

60 mm is quite a lot.

I'd think it would be ok as a streetbike, but I wouldn't want to ride it quick or take it on track.

Good job will look awesome when finished, i would be a bit concerned about the reduced wheelbase but i guess it depends what you are using the bike for. Did you do any research as to whether any other bikes have longer SSSA,s you could have used? I would be interested in doing something like this with my sd when i replace it with an rc8 for the track.

Right hand ground clearance doesn't look that bad...

the exhaust as 2 in 2 for the sound because 2 in1 o 2 in 1 in 2 it's more standard

the clerance to the ground as around 7/8cm and the silencer ar more central on the bike
