a bit over a week ago i posted that i got towed home cause of bike just going dead . Came home pulled gas tank and fuse block off mounting posts ( and all fuses tested with multi-meter ) disconnected gas tank electrical fittings and reinstalled everything and was good to go.... for about a week till yesterday - going to San Francisco i fueled up / bike started and immediately died on me and wouldn't start ---- same scenario - move fuses around and good to go ...
today i just had time to really investigate ... Pulled fuses one by one and tested again with multimeter this time really examining closely the fuse even though none were appearing to be blown.....
One had a damn CRACK in it that was barely visible right where the curly part comes off the heavy post.... i put a multi-meter on again and it tested good but when i separated the fuse posts with just a touch pressure the multimeter went dead.... That should explain the intermittent dead bike...
So just a caution about fuses - they may look good and EVEN test good - but it's almost as though one needs to examine the things with a magnifying glass just to make sure.....
confidence restored !!! Sure feels good to win these little battles , i continue to become less intimidated by these computerized machines ........
cheers
