General Failure warning

My 1290 sat in the garage for 2 weeks with the battery tender attached. When I unplugged the battery tender and turned the key, the 'General Failure' warning came on. I atarted the engine and let it idle for a bit. Eventually, the warning went away on its own.

Not sure why this would go on, especially when the bike was off for 2 weeks. Anyone have any ideas why this would happen? What are the typical fails that one could check for this message?
