Hello again.

I was hoping the forum was still active and the SD dudes were alive and kicking.

Since selling my sd in 2010, I've been on somewhat of a bender buying and selling bikes I hoped would fulfil whatever needed fulfilling in my life. (loosing heaps of $$ along the way.)

Here's the list since 2010 as best as I recall.
smt, v4 tuono, xt660x, vstrom, 1200 dorsoduro, 750 dorsoduro, 1050 tiger, 3xdr650's, 690 duke, 2x1190 adv's, drz400, a couple of xr trail bikes and a ktm trail bike.

I've rediscovered my youth a bit in the last couple of years and have the drz with a big tank for dirt roads and an xr250 for plonking around the bush on. I bought my Wife a drz250.
She likes plonking as well and we do a bit of camping and plonking. Good fun.

So I'm ready to rejoin the sd family. Or as I claim. The modern day smt family. I'm talking about the gt.
It's the first bike that's given me the proverbial "boner" since laying eyes on the tuono back in 2011.

I'll certainly have one before the year is out.
The sdr is a bike I wouldn't consider as I'm getting past the naked bike thing and was spoiled by the suspension on the adv. I like pushing a button to make the roads smooth.

My Wife and I are doing a bit of touring these days. Not two up and the thought of cruise, heated grips etc are a big plus.
I understand the sdr is a capable tourer as well. I do like the understated look of the gt and a 23ltr tank is a plus.

I have a dorso for fanging around the hills and the tiger is used for longer trips. The gt should eliminate the need (want) for these two.
I'm really hoping as is my long suffering Wife the gt will be in the garage for some years to come.

So, looking forward to being a part of the sd forum once again.

Cheers John.

P.S. I have a new dog as well. Her name is Bella. She's scared of pretty much everything and has claimed this chair in the office.

Probably not the first to think along those lines when it comes to growing older and the GT.
Makes a lot of sense in a lot of ways. I think with a capable off roader and a GT you would pretty much cover most bases.
Probably up there with a Multistrada.
I havent seen one in the flesh yet but pretty keen to have a look.
Oh and welcome back.

Welcome back, seems KTM is a revolving door down there in AUS.

As soon as one AUS member leaves another joins lol.

Thanks fellas.

I thought the adventure was going to be the be all bike. It had so many problems that ktm ended up replacing it.
The gt does it for me. I think they're in the showrooms within the next couple of weeks.
