How many want an aluminium tank?

I'm looking at getting a small run of aluminium tanks made and want to gauge interest.
They will be expensive but lighter and hold more fuel and look the same.
There may be a short delay while prototype testing is done on an original.
They should be around $2000-$3000AUD

I'm also looking at making new, lighter frames also... Also stupidly priced as the materials are expensive.

Do we need these?

I can work out estimates on weights but the price is going to be high as we have to hand make them.
We are talking kilos off the weight though

I want one but those price projections would rule me out especially once you start adding shiping to Uk, import duty and painting the thing when it is here.

Good luck with it though.

If your thinking of doing frames and stuff you should look into building and marketing an Australian made motorcycle.
Make it a street fighter with a 1300 three cylinder engine or maybe a 1400

That's the plan later down the line if this works, but I want to start with the Superduke R as I have all the bits and parts and also think the SD is a bike that changed a genre
I'm talking to the DOT about the ADR requirements now.
This could just be a colossal waste of money...

I would be ready to think about putting down a deposit if the price were half that. For those in the U.S., $3000 AUD works out to $2600 USD.

Wasn't Willh making one of these for himself? I know a fab guy in California that is pretty good with an English wheel, specializes in retro seat pans and tanks for the cafe racer crowd, I've discussed this with him and he thinks he could do it for quite a bit less. All the same, good luck with your project Linga.

I'd be a buyer IF the money spent dropped a significant number of kilos off the bike.

What is the exact weight of the stock tank?
