Hi all KTMers.
I bought a used 09 990 SDR 3 weeks ago after spending my younger years on a 4 cylinder sports bike. I took the SDR out for a decent ride on both Saturday and Sunday (about 4hrs each day with stops ) and came to realise that the standard SDR seat is well ... sh*t for longer rides. I know it is fine for shorter rides and i bet it will be great for track days (only one way to find out ) but i want to get something comfier for longer rides with mates.
I have been looking at what options are available and basically it's between the original KTM ergo seat or the Corbin saddle.
I have asked around and the KTM part i can get for around $250 brand new fom the KTM dealer 15mins down the road from my place or the corbin for around $500 brand new which needs to be imported from the US to Melbourne and then pay $50 to ship it to me in Sydney (???).
Before i go spending the money i wanted to see if anyone here can provide some feedback on the options i have to pick from. Any feedback will be appreciated. Or any other suggestions for the seat.

Cant comment on the Corbin seat but I have the ergo seat and it isnt massively better than the original plank. The ergo is fine for about 30-40 mins and then the gel seems to disperse or collapse and you are on the bones of your arse.
I have gone back to using a custom seat the previous owner had made. It has more or better gel than the ergo seat and is good for an hour or so. I suspect the Corbin would be similar to this. I think the problem is that you are sitting on a thin seat on top of rock hard suspension whatever you do.
A better answer for me would be converting the rear end to either the dual seat or making a seat / tail unit from a SMT fit. Unfortunately both would make the bike much uglier and I am too much of a tart for that.

I fitted the Corbin to my 08 SDR and found it very successful.I recall a two hour trip with no arse ache.
It does tend to put you in a slightly different position to the standard seat.

Mate, I tried the Corbin but found it to be a bit too cruiserish for me. Its a bit wide and I found it a bit lumpy around the 'nads. I went for the KTM ergo seat and its okay. Not brilliant, just okay. You will still get a sore bum after a couple of hours in it, but at least its not the hard flat pad that you got as standard. I do put the original back on when I'm on track though. The ergo is too squishy for that.

I have an Ergo seat on mine and find it OK. I do quite a few 200ml journeys regularly and it's fine for the trips between fuel stops and coffee breaks, there's a lot more other reasons like my knees, neck and other old parts that need rest before my arse!
I use mine on track days and it's also fine, the standard SDR seat really is a hard, unforgiving piece of plastic.
