I'm with Nerd on this one, but for somewhat different reasons. I don't think any German individual or company would ever admit that bit off too much, or couldn't control what the Itals are doing.

When i heard bmw bought husky my first thought was huh? why? After sinking so much money into it after only 4 years you have to wonder what their motivations were in the first place. Almost like they were expecting to revamp a dirtbike company into their visions as more road orientated similar to the rest of their line, strong road division seriously lacking off road, and then decided the cut their loses when they realised there simply was not enough room in the market. To eliminate a competitor? That makes sense. Buying a company out, pouring money into RD and such shit then selling after only 4 years? That part makes no sense.

According to this Dutch site: http://www.nieuwsmotor.nl/motornieuws-m ... n-ktm.html
Husky was sold to the private company of ktm CEO stefan pierer.
He will probably step down as ktm CEO. That is what they are saying in this article anyway.

I think BMW jumped ship when they found out that their plans to use Husky to move young people to BMW by putting there heavy 20 year old 652cc single cylinder motor and weak 800/900cc parallel twin in Huskys would not sell to their intended demographic of young people. I was a Husky fan, but I think BMW diluted the brand. It's just an idea now, it's not a Swidish brand, it's not an italian brand or a German or Austrian brand, it's just a name that you can find on tools tool boxes and motorcycles of uncertain origin and quality.

I loved my 1982 430 WR Husky from the days when they were a real Husky. Now it's just a badge name beening sold off, but Husaberg is still made in the same local of the old Husky.

Saw the official Australian Husky importer letter about the merge to their dealers today.
In short:
Says that Old Stefan KTM major share holder aquired husky. The idea is to use joint develop platform and some conflict of interest is likely... blah blah.
Nothing yet mentioned about him standing down as KTM boss or the like.
Conclusion, lots of rumours but the fact that BMW sold husky off to him is true.
We will see what happens in the next few weeks I guess.
Personally I can't figure out how husky will fit in the existing KTM Husaberg line up if they will be all under the same roof. With BMW it made kinda sense.
