I have the uclear hbc100+ kit which i am very impressed with. I can talk to my missus when shes on her bike and i am bluetoothed to my iphone. Mp3 from iphone via BT is quite impressive. Good speakers! Also feels strange when receiving a call on the bike!

I have a sports agv helmet rossi replica so i assume it would be even better with a touring helmet less wind noise...?

I don't have this trouble with two things happening at once and I can easily tune things out when necessary. The group I ride with has adopted the interphone f5 line. We've had great luck with them and they won't break the bank. They have built in FM radio, Bluetooth, device to device communication, aux support, and great battery life along with on the go charging.

I popped a humunguos wheelie today. Right down main street USA. I rode it past Ghost Riders Tavern. The parishioners were busy listening to music and talking amongst themselves. I was hoping that I was enough of a distraction that I would pull their attention away from the activities and over to my orange prowess. I'll bet the music stopped and the fish stories ended when the roar off twin Grave's pelting their eardrums and the orange madness beheld their eyeballs. Then the getaway, two stealth mode tiptoeing blocks into non existence, sliding the beast into her stall and closing the door. " who me"?

I know I'm a new guy here but I'll totally disagree with you. It's not a boredom thing by any means. It's the same rain I sometimes wear earplugs. I don't even really listen to it most of the time, it just kind of sets a mood and a beat. When I'm not committing and there's little to no chance of cats pulling out, etc. Its like it makes it just me and the road and the bike... same as earplugs just with a fast paced rhythm. I'll make the argument for safety on a group ride or any spirited riding with a group of any size. It adds to the depth of what you can communicate. If I'm on the other side of a sharp corner and there's gravel, I can say so instead of going they see me point at out with my feet. You make the argument of hand signals, what about not having to remove my hands from the handlebars? If we're going through traffic I can tell them in planning on going after a certain car or something like that.
I don't know where you keep your gear but I never keep my helmet in a place where it or anything on it could get messed up or stolen, my gear is too expensive for that.

SDNerd is definitely entitled to his opinion. I ride with headphones 95% of the time. Yes, riding is BORING AS HELL when you are commuting on a freeway everyday. Also, it's fun to listen to music that pumps you up while tearing through some roads.

Also, to say that motorcyclists have been getting along just fine for a century without it holds no power in this debate. Just because they didn't have it available doesn't mean they wouldn't have enjoyed it if it were there.

Music just replaces wind noise. Still noise. You aren't going to say riding with earplugs is bad are you Nerd?

Most of my riding is alone. I prefer it. I was riding through Mexico recently and after a while I wished that I had a partner. I ran into a rider from Mexico and we hooked up for a supposed day ride. Since we were on his territory, I thought it polite to let him lead. We take off and get no more than one kilometer and he starts pointing at shit about. Gravel, a pot hole, a bus turning left that may be a danger. Be careful what you wish for. I high tailed it out of the situation faster than you can spurt out Montezuma's revenge.
If communication more detailed than what is politely used to any other users of the road in the same surroundings, such as applying turn signals, I am hard pressed to figure out why. I'll give the road ( on my motorcycle) my undivided attention. Sometimes I close my eyes when a particularly exquisite piece of music or section of a song. I see this happen to other people also. I believe that it is generated from the personn removing any other stimuli that would distract from undivided attention.
Chew away but I'm walking now so I wont join you.

Got a shark helmet with Sharktooth headset, awesome but of kit, section in the back of the helmet so is the slimmest of all as only the controls are in side of helmet
iPhone (music and siri, so pretty much everything iPhone as so.... send text messages, directions, GPs etc and can pair a full on GPS if needed.

Use it every day on the highway commute, makes me ride even faster sometimes, got a few issues so my brain is always doing a million things at once, then there is two of us, so twice as many thoughts can be processed

We use blue tooth for bike to bike
It's a right fooking laugh
If we are going fast , no fooker says out

Would definitely recommend , adds a new dimension to your ride
I just treated myself to some shure SE535 ear buds.........awesome , much better than the moulded plugs too
