So after talking to a few subject matter experts on this subject, I came to the concussion that this project would of cost A LOT as well as modding a 1290 SD to the point of not being able to return it to stock would of been a huge hit to the cost of the project. Drilling into the frame for the foot pegs would probably hurt the resale a bit...
Last week an SMR came up for sale in Tucson with 7.5k on it. Yeah a 1290 would be cool with its electronics and power, but in the reality I live in, at 130 pounds and not a racer, do I need it? Well maybe the future will tell, as for now I picked up the 990. If in a year I feel I need to do a $20k+ project to get the seating position of an SMR in a 1290 so be it, I'll start the project then. Least I have something that I know I can have a comfy ride on, and yeah it is already way too fast for me.
It has been down at slow speed so anal me will replace a few things to get it to my standards. One of the other contributing factors of picking this up, besides my birthday this week, it is the same exact SMR I rode about five years ago. Back then it was traded into my dealership on an RC8, it had w/ 5k on it and was the first LC8 I rode! Fell in love of course, but was unable to get a loan back then because of my income. Then a week later meet a the guy I bought my Superduke from at a local event and picked that up instead while using my Bonnie T-100 for most of the cost of the Superduke. As for that beautiful day I rode an LC8 for the first time, here is that test ride long ago.
First impressions is that it does fit my crap body so much better in town, sucks getting old. Least I stayed in the family.
