Took my Super Duke to a local NHRA drag strip for Wednesday "Fun Night" just to see what kind of times it would run. The bike is basically stock except for a one-off set of prototype Two Brothers cans with an Akrop ti header. It ran 11:404 @ 121.69 MPH. The rear tyre NEVER hooked up (too new and too rounded, need a worn out flat tread area tyre that we all throw away Could go on and on about last night but I have some tweaking I need to do to get the Super Duke into the 10's, stock with nothing more than a pipe and cans.
Anyone else drag raced their Super Duke......what kind of times?

I would be all about drag racing if it was down AND back to the line, stopped.
How could you not keep it hooked up? Mine never breaks traction, even leaned over in corners. Was it raining?

What pressure were you running? There seems to be a widespread and dangerous misconception that the pressure posted on the sidewall and manual is what the tyres should be set at. Those pressures are for maximum load to prevent premature wear and overheating. Under max load at max pressure results in a very small contact patch, less heat generation, and consequently less traction and grip. Less grip means more spinning which means faster wear. Street tyres are much happier in the 32/32 range on ~400lb bikes.

I guess he was lining up in the centre of the lane where the cars drop oil and coolant, slippery as fook.......
you gotta get over to one side or the other on a clean bit of track and stay out of the centre until you hit 3rd gear,
18-20 psi in an old squared off sticky rear tyre will help to along will 50psi in the front
