Wasn't keen on riding today, but got persuaded by a friend I promised to take to a nice road I found the other week.

5 corners in, got in a bit too hot, new-ish tyres apparently weren't hot enough and when I thought getting my knee down would and decrease lean angle I done it like a stiff log, upsetting the front and whooops... fook me titties I'm sliding 'bout 30 meters on the road, then getting to the side of it and having a little tumble.
Instantly got up and ran to the bike to switch it off, picked it up and saw some oil dripping from god knows where. "Stupid! Idiot! You fooking cunt, how could I be so stupid?!? This is children's mistake!".

Well, Thankfully, nothing happened to me, which is, to be fair, the important thing. I wouldn't be better off having a hard time trying to reach the back of my ass trying to wipe it or any kind of shit like that, or even worse - being chopped by them terrible guard rail posts that I luckily missed by about 15 meters because of the trajectory of my lowside.

Well, still did not tried to take things apart but the obvious stuff are:
Shift lever
left side tank cover
left side headlamp fairing
both headlamp masks
upper GBR crash slider (the slider itself)
lower GBR crash slider (both slider and the entire mount that might just had bent the l\s engine support)
left side seat cover
left side oem silencer gurad
under belly cover got rash
bar end mirror and left blinkers

Other stuff that suffered some or might have suffered -
clutch lever
front brake line
handlebar probably bent, might be the upper triple clamp as well
not sure about the front wheel as it got a nasty bruise but don't know if it's bent or broken
l\s frond disc might be bent
l\s fork tube got a bit of rash, hope it's straight
radiator got an ugly dent, hopefully it's repairable
oil tank got scratched and not sure where the oil leak is from
Not sure about the state of the headers, as the bike got stopped on a rock... will look at it tomorrow.

Now, some of you may think it's an opportunity.. not me.. I'm too poor at the moment to fix these stuff, especially if the big stuff are banged as well. So I have some time taking our shitty buses as it's my daily commute as well.
Parts here are twice more than in Europe... fook, it's an '07 SD that's worth about 10,500-11,000 Euro, they sell new for 26,000 euro here... And it was spotless, I mean really, like it just came out of the showroom.

The hardest part is the feeling of stupidity. That it's all me and there's no one to blame. fook.

Sorry;

We have all been there, and with enough time, forget and do it all over again.
Watch for the pains that sneak up and may need looking at. It wont be long till your back on the bike, the bus break will be as short as you can make it.
Did you loose the front or back?
Get well soon.

The front, it was a classic lowside.

Bad luck mate, shit happens. Looks like a definate insurance claim that one, by the sounds of it they would write it off in the UK

I remember a few years ago not really wanting to go out on the bike and was persuaded by a mate. That time I smashed my Tib/Fib and had a massive clot..

Sort the oil leak, change the shift lever, loosen the handlebar bolts and they should right themselves, ignore the cosmetic stuff - bike is still useable with extra hero points. Imagine how much worse you would feel binning a jap sportsbike and having a grands worth of plastics damage on the bill.

Put it down to experience, we have all been there but (if you do it again) you are the Motoronin of Tel Aviv.

I've got some bits if u need them. Chin spoiler. Radiator. Bars. Etc.

There not spotless pristine but good condition with the odd little chip.

Give it a good check over and put up a list once you know our sure what's needed. It might not be too bad.

Frankly, I'm surprised at how few posts there are on this forum about crashes. In my youth crashes were as common as the weekend run.

The SD crashes really well, I've high-sided, low-sided, run-off and generally made myself good buddy with the gravel traps at tracks for years and every time my bike has just been repaired, cleaned up and made as good as new. Except for the battle scars and scrapes and scuffs that make the bike the character that it is.

To support what is already said, it's very unlikely your forks are bent, they are brick-shit-house. Just loosen up the triple clamps and reset straight. The thing that bends are the bolts that hold the handlebars onto the top triple clamp so just replace those and it's very likely that everything will line up straight again. The OE tapered bars are very strong.

What colour is your bike? I have spare body work for sale but it is black, (with the slight metallic finish).

Know what it feels like to crash and sit and look at the bent bits in the morning. But it will all mend. Doesn't sound like anything is seriously broke. All those bits you mention are relatively cheap and available so post up a list of the stuff you need and the forum will deliver!

"Wasn't keen on riding today, but got persuaded by a friend I promised to take to a nice road I found the other week"

Been there, done that. Some days, or parts of the day, I know I should not be on a bike. I have had days at work where I had to wait for a given amount of time before throwing a leg over my bike.

Most important fact is you are still here and you can chalk it up as leasons learned.

I picked up plenty of parts from this site and still is my favorite place to shop.

Ride on !

Bummer Dude. But as mentioned b4 as long as yer arse is in one piece all is well.

I'll be in Tel Aviv this year. In the past I've been afraid to rent a bike and cruise around, plus I figured the roads were rather tame. Can you rent a bike in Israel? Is it worth it? In the past I never ventured out of the city...

Glad you're OK.

Last time I stuffed the front (a couple years ago ...), I was lucky too - only a couple broken ribs.

Not much to note except that we've all been there, which I realise is of no consolation to you. Stupid hurts and is usually expensive - a lesson no motorcyclist seems to learn 100% (myself included).

I'm sure you'll get the bike sorted, and hope you're back on the road soon.

Do you guys know if a carbon silencer cover of the SDR would fit my 2007 SD? And what about the clutch lever? I assume they're the same, just unable to open a website with microfiche at the moment.

Help me out here guys, as I'm a bit confused:

Is my bike "Anthrazit"? It's an EU model, mind.

Image

I was sure it is but then got confused when I saw a reference to the name Graphite to a bike that looks the same and another that referred Anthrazit to black. Can't check the VIN as the bike's at the shop.
