Found out the KTM's are a little bit more specific then the JAPS to take them to another generic mechanic ...so I prefer bite the bullet and take it to a dealer I trust.

Only do the intermediate service on my 1290 since it came out of warranty. Will do most with the exception of the valves.

I started writing a list of all the work I do myself and decided it would be easier to list what I take to a dealer/shop.

Wheels off the bike for a tyre change (I'd hate myself if I fooked those wheels up)

Rebuilding/refurbing forks and shock. I just don't have to tools nor patience to deal with oily springs and shit.

I'll do the basic stuff (oil, air filter, tyres, coolant, etc) but leave the engine internals to specialists. Too much of an issue if something does go wrong.

normally I avoid the dealerships unless someone I know is working on it, but finding a good LC8 mechanic is sometimes hard even at a good KTM dealership.

FYI in Atlanta or GA area, the local Atlanta BMW/Ducati/Husky shop knows the V-twins and has no problem working on them. I did the valve check on my Super Enduro 950 there and they were good folks.

I do the same as most I assume, everything bar the Valves. Probably will get forks serviced at a shop as well.
Problem is where to take it ?. KTM Brisbane have shown themselves to be unreliable.... sigh
