Hey guys, I'm a long time lurker, rare poster. I hope this is a good place for my question.
I'm having an issue with my bike popping out of gear. It really only happens when I'm power wheeling and shifting from 1st to second gear. 2nd will engage fine but, when I rip the throttle open to chase the front back up... my bike will slip out of gear and I'll peg the limiter and slam the front end on the ground. Usually hitting my nuts on the tank really hard haha!!
It also happens from time to time under hard acceleration.
When this happens, it sometimes leaves my shift lever feeling detached from everything. I can move it around and nothing happens until it finally let's me pop it back into gear.
Of course, during the shifts I'm preloading the shifter and bliping the throttle to change the gear.
Like I said, doesn't happen every time. Sometimes I can get a 1st, 2nd and just into 3rd wheelie and have no issues.
Bike is an 08 superduke. 5000 miles, original owner. Second oil change was done less than 500 miles ago.
Any thoughts? Thanks a bunch guys!

sometimes happens on my bike as well if i don't manage to firmly kick the shifter into the next gear on clutchless shifts and will either cause a false neutral or drop down gear...dunno what else to say, it happens

I've found the SD has a stupid long gear throw (ala dirtbike) you can get rear sets to change this and make the shift more positive.
