a while back i wrote in complaining about the typical throttle response problems that people typically point to the BGC. I had gone through the BGC a while back so didn't suspect it was the problem.

Last nite i had to have the bike towed home. Was ripping down a long grade on the coast highway 1 and poof/pop/crackle/ bull crap and finally had to pull over the sputtering bike.

it would start but sputter and die. After a bit wouldn't start at all and sound like not getting spark ( you can kinda tell when that happens ).

So towed home after waiting in the cold nite almost 2 hours for tow truck.

Start digging into things the next day - take seat off just to look around under there - Look over the BGC - but something tells me pull off the battery box cover and open things up.

There's ONE real thin gauge wire that attaches to the negative side of the battery by one of those EYE metal fasteners ya put the battery bolt through. Well vibration and the eye had broken in two leaving the wire just resting on the battery - enough to run sometimes and sometimes not ! That wire from the battery passes from the negative battery post across the engine in the front and goes up to where it goes into the main wiring loom in front of the BGC ( ie: the side of the BGC is closer to the headlight ). Don't know where that little wire goes but suspect and it seems has been the problem with my RPM's and the intermittent poorly running bike.

Has a new eye on it now and man idles rock solid and smooth rpm's on and off throttle once again.

Will be taking it out for test rides tomorrow ( Sat ) for final evaluation... so far so good - fingers crossed.

ok - i'm posting another blade i just finished
