For what's it worth, I have a Gerbings jacket and controller set up on my 04 KTM Adventure 950, which is very simular, and is soooo nice I kick my self for not buying into this years ago.

Sorry about the double post, had to eat breakfast while it was hot! I power my heated jacket from the same fused power line that I charge my battery. As you might know the battery box is a real treat to get too! Not! I connected my power tap to the large relay post that connectes to the battery, not the battery post it's self. See advrider.com Orange Crush section for instrustions. So far, I have not used the heated jacket on my SD, only on my old Tiger and now my KTM 950. On the 950 I mounted the controller in front of the gas tank so I can see the control knob and it's power light. I then ran the power line under the cowling and it comes out between the seat and tank. I have a one piece Areostitch suit. On the left lower pocket I cut and sewed a button hole and pass the power cord thru. I have e-nuf length in the suit side of the power cord to stand up on the pegs with out disconnecting. This is a real clean approach to powering the jacket. My first attempt on the Tiger I did not have the controller mounted to the bike but used the velcro to attach to the velcro mounted on my suit. Too many wires hanging about for me that way, but I see others doing it that fashion.
