Hi Mates,

I'm on process of shipping my bike out to Thailand soon as I'm done study here. I just finish rebuilding water pump today with oil change. It started just for 5 sec then stop. I peep into the tank, seen no fuel. I top about 1 lt of 91 that I have, though it might get me to the fuel station. Fuel pump working (proved by squirt fuel in my garage) no Fi light. I wack tune cable on, the batter seem to be a bit low (11. but it is still turning the engine. Do you think it is because of the battery or something else?

Thanks heap guys.

It needs a good battery to start.
If there is fuel, what else have you done as I presume it was running before?
Where was the fuel squirting out?
Did you had the tank off and is the quick release for the hose all the way in?

Here what I have done to her.
Water pump rebuilt with new hose.
Valve clearance check, all in good spec. (I did turn the engine the wrong way - clock wise about quarter of a turn)
change the oil hose, all cracking and hard- 9 years old bike.
Hose and clean.
Give it a start was running for 5-10 sec with one start attempt.
Engine stop with no Fi, I pop my eye in for a fuel, seen none. As I went out for a ride the other week.
I ran the test on tuneecu with no error. I test the fuel pump manually by plug in the quick connect and turn the key, squirt my garage with fuel. (My house smell like Phillip island now).
I'm really lost as I just book my bike on the ship to Thailand in two weeks. I dont really trust KTM mechanic over there as they dont know how to remove SAS...... and there is only about a dozen SD in Thailand too.

Thanks heap guys.

Shot in the dark but you don't have the headlight mask open do you?

Went out for a new battery, fuel, this morning and play a little with the spark plugs and connectors. IT STARTTTTT!!!
But a gain only for 5 sec. But it gave me hope though. The headlight mask is still on nothing done with it. I make sure that the quick connector is all the way by changing the whole line with new one. The new batter almost flat now after a few more attempt with no luck.
I will get new plugs this avro, will keep you guys update. All help are welcome, I hope it wont involve the new coils.

Hi,
so it was running fine before the water pump rebuild and oil change? If it has air, spark and fuel it should run. My first guess would be fuel related since it runs 5 to 10 seconds. If you pop a little fuel down it's throats and it fires off then you know it fuel related. Sorry, going old skool here but sometimes you have to go back to basics

It was running fine before the work. will try to deep throat her with fuel. I had no luck with new plug on Saturday around here. Got only last one in town.

After have headache over the bike instead of writing my PhD Thesis, coz you know why. My bike started this evening after I recharge my battery. I pull of PCV off, disconnect everything just like I don't have one. Then she start and rumbling. So it is the PCV, has anyone know or experience this issue before?

Check the Earth on the PCV.

The earth is in the same place as before, attach to one of coolant reservoir tank. I use PCV from SMT 990 so the earth is a bit short. I will have a better look tomorrow.

Connect the PCV earth to the battery neg with a longer lead or find a better earth.

After we wiring my PCV to move the earth wire to starter motor. She started. So it was just the misplace of PCV. This lesson cost me one new battery, two new plugs and a good day ride with mates.

Thank you for all your help every, especially Guy and Colonel_Klinck.

Wow, great resolution. I would never have though to check the earth for the PC.

Bummer that you had to spend out on those few bits, but fantastic that you got it solved, and it wasn't something terrible. Also - you now have nice new plugs and battery

I only know this as I had a random misfire that I tried all sorts to solve until I noticed the earth to the PC3 had come loose. Glad it's sorted.
