Hi guys

I hope to pick up a used 08-11 SDR 990 when I have saved enough. I've been reading alot on the SDR 990 on the internet recently and one issue that causes me confusion is if it comes with a stock slipper clutch. I have read on two separate articles from reliable media sources that it comes with one? (Link below)

https://www.motorcyclenews.com/news/fir ... andlaunch/

https://www.sportrider.com/08-ktm-super ... ned#page-3

However when I have searched past posts on this forum it appears alot of SDR owners have aftermarket slippers installed which makes me think it does not have one. Can anyone confirm or fact check this?

If it doesn't come shipped with one, then what version were the journos using that did have one? Also i can't find further information where the editor has printed a correction if the journos did misreport such claims about a stock slipper.

I have researched past archived posts where this issue was partially raised but from subsequent replies it was never really answered definitively.

I, and a few other old timer Superdukers, run a Suter slipper clutch. It runs with the same friction plates as the stocker but doesn't have the conventional springs. It has one large spring component that is stamped out of a sheet of steel and formed into a shape that applies pressure in the same way. You can get different ratings of this spring to adjust the level of 'slip' that the clutch delivers. Fitting g it was a revelation - especially for riding on tracks as the back end on a standard clutch has a tendency to hop when shifting down and not matching the revs perfectly. You can feel the clutch slipping through the lever as a slight juddering g feel.

Worth every penny IMO.
