Seat upgrade, Ergo or Corbin? (990 SD, not R)

Hi all,

Looking for advise on which seat to go with to this season as I am planning to do allot more riding/touring.

Factory seat is okay for hour long trips or less, over that I start to hurt.

Looking at the KTM Ergo Gel seat or going all out for a Corbin if is worth the difference.

Main goal is less seat and inner thigh pain on longer trips, I am also adding tank grips (snake skin) to help.

Let me know which you recommend and why please.

I bought my 990 with the KTM Ergo gel seat fitted (and the original was given as part of the deal) - I haven't ridden it with the original seat so can only offer part-qualified feedback, but I don't have any issues with the gel seat, it's pretty comfortable. After a day in the saddle my neck hurts more (from windblast, despite having a fly screen) than my arse does from the seat - standard footpegs and handlebars too.
You can be pretty sure that it won't be worse than the original seat, sorry I can't quantify the improvement more than to say it's fine.

I have the standard and the comfort seat.

I like the standard seat for everyday riding and commuting. It's wider, flatter and doesn't kick you into the gas tank.

The comfort seat is much better for aggressive riding imo, the face of the seat (the top most flat part) is skinnier than the stock seat. Although it has more padding and provides less feel/feedback it just works better for me when leaned over. The comfort seat is also shit for 2 up riding as it kicks you into the tank and angles the passenger down towards the driver. I noticed on longer rides the comfort seat created some pressure points on my legs where my thighs contact the edge of the seat.

The ergo seats can be had pretty cheap now though, I've seen them go for $80 on ebay in good condition. So it's worth a try.

If you recall this past fall, I offered to sell you my ergo gel seat...

With that being said, go with the Corbin! I have both the Corbin (bought on ebay over the summer) and the gel seat. The Corbin is better for longer rides.

But I guess if you are looking for something that is better for twisties, ergo seat. Also, the Corbin weighs wayyyy more than either the stock seat or the ergo seat if that matters to you.
