Steering Dampers and Triple Clamps

Looking to upgrade the 1290 steering damper and YES I have searched and read previous comments!

Options look to be:

Thicker oil in the standard damper
Buy the PP WP adjustable and cut 2mm off the rod to prevent fouling
Ditto and buy the PP Triple clamps
Buy the Scotts and Rotty fitting kit
Get a hyperpro and get someone to make brackets to fit

Questions for me are:

Triple clamps add bling but nobody really seems to explain how they are different other than 16gm of weight - is there any difference in geometry etc? At US$689 I need more than 16gm of weight saving which I can get in the bathroom pre ride... Are they worth it and if so, why???

Like the high and low speed idea of the Scott, on my old Blade the OEM electronic damper had great lack of resistance at low speed combined with no fuss over big bumps, for road riding it was so good I forgot about it until I hit same bumps on a different bike and shat myself.
Then again the WP one tucked away out of sight is cleaner, and cheaper.
Anyone tried both, if so which do you prefer and why?

Thanks people
