Hi,
I'm searching for more info on the differences between the standard Super Duke engine and the R version. In my newbie post I was kindly directed to the info on this site about the history of the SD and it's revisions (thanks again Jambox). It doesn't really go into great detail about exactly what revisions were made to the engine for the SDR and what it's power output is. Does anyone have a source of specific info on the R's engine?
Cheers

Thanks jjlester. So a 2009 SDR will not have the uprated engine then?
Do we have the vin numbers from and too when the SDR came with the uprated engine? and is there anywhere on the web where the info on the SDR uprated engine is officially printed rather than word of mouth?

The SDR from 2008-2011 have the uprated engine.
From 2012 the SDR was downgraded.
You can recognize a full power sdr from the Akrapovic headers, and the higher revlimit on the tacho (normal limit 9800, sdr limit 10.200)
The difference in headers (top one is SDR, bottom is normal sd)
And here is a test of the 08 SDR which sums up the engine mods:

From 2008 the SDR (single seater) and the uprated engine. The 2012 was a parts bin special (orange frame, dual seat), it has the SDR (single seat) geometery/suspension but has the standard engine and headers.
Read thread for an insight to some of the differences.

A query on a couple of bikes guys...
A 2012 but has the Akra headers and the 10.2 redline, so does that mean it has the uprated R engine?

A 2007 but has the 10.2K redline as well, so does the mean it has the uprated R engine?

2012 indicates year of registration only. Check VIN code - for full fat 2011 SDR model check for "B" as tenth digit of VIN. I've covered this before in another thread. "B" chassis came before the end of line 2012 "C" model parts bin special. I've posted VIN decipher somewhere as well, check my previous posts. Hope this helps.
