This Is Getting Ridiculous

Switched from the really good Q3's to the also really good Roadsmart II's (rear only, Q3 in front) in order to get a bit more life,
Just finished another one in 1800 miles.

At this rate, in another couple of years, I'll have spent more on tyres than I did on the bike (and I paid through the nose, getting the first one in So. Cal).
I'm going to need an intervention...

Yeah my 990 eats a Roadsmart II rear in about 3k miles and a Q2 rear in around 1200.

The torque just destroys em.

I easily got through a "sticky" tyre in 2000 miles (on my 990), but I can get a rear Pirelli Diablo Strada for £85 which lasts between 3000-3500 miles. I found some sticky tyres a pain waiting to warm up and just happened to try the Strada. I absolutely loved it and felt confident on it. I don't do track days and don't behave like a 2@, just like twisties and ride enthusiastically. It may not suit everyone and some want the latest trendiest, but a recent test in "Motorcycle News" put a professional rider round a track testing many tyres. He set the quickest time on a sport touring tyre

I must be riding too slow
I've just done 3000km on Roadsmart 2's since I bought the bike and there's a fair bit left. Not sure how many km they'd done before I got the bike ?.

But.....I usually get 10000-13000km from a rear (PR2 on a 2001 R1, PR3 on a 2004 VTR1000 and a PR3 on the CBR1000XX
Last time I bought tyres, I got 20,000 km on the Pilot Road 4's. That was on the Blackbird front and back.

The Diablo Strada was replaced by the Angel ST, but when I tried the ST (after the Strada) I wasn't sure it was a step forward and didn't have the same feeling. So I found I could still get hold of the Strada, and once back on the bike, I was convinced the Strada was better. The GT is the latest model but it's a lot more money and I haven't tried them yet.

That's the price you pay for performance I guess, what's the alternative, buy a harder tyre and ride slower? No thanks!

I don't believe the stories about someone going faster on a track with a sport touring tyre, unless it was cold and damp. I've tried it and it's bloody scary and friends who have tried it get blown out the back door on track. No-one I've ever seen in the top group has gone faster on anything less than supercorsa's, Race attacks, racetecs etc.

Wish I could get 1800 miles out of a tyre, I literally get one day out of a rear on track, approx 200km (120 miles!)

Looks like a really bad suspension setup and or running two low air pressure. Some riders who have the point and shot style of riding can wear there tyres a lot quicker than riders who have a faster corner entry and hold a good mid corner speed so they don't have to give it the beans on exit.I was one of the point and shoot riders and went through tyres like no bodies business, but after shit loads of track days, you soon learn to be smoother on the throttle if you want to stay in touch with the fast boys and easier on tyres.Cheers

Any British riders able to recommend a tyre with good wet and fun dry uses? Cali boy here, and rain is not my normal day.

I'm running PR4 rear and PP3 front and the PP3 seems fine on wet roads so far (950kms).
Have run PR2/3/4's for last 4 bikes.. they're very good in the wet.
