So finally licked my electrical gremlin ( dead gauges / high idle etc ) and then yesterday going up a awesome grade with chicken strip eating curves i get Bwwuaaaaaaaaah !!! She goes completely DEAD !

pull over look things over , try to crank and sounds like either no spark or no gas...... End up pulling off the fuel line from the throttle body and turn key on to see if fuel pump will spit gas out the end of line and NOTHING !!! Too far from home so luckily i have free towing ( full coverage Ins. on SD. ) flat bed loads her up - get home and investigate further ---- test all fuses with multi-meter ( all good ) and proceed to test the electrical plugs to the fuel pump when key turned on -------> Appears there is NO electrical current getting to the fuel pump ---

Comments / experiences welcome ! i was just back in the groove with this bike after setting it up for the winter and BANG - down she goes Damn things - but so worth it when running right...

cheers

Fuel will not squirt out of fuel quick disconnect when disconnected....that's why it's called a dry break.

If bikes been sitting for the winter without battery tender I'd be looking a the battery.

It soynds to me like your on the right path. If the power to the fuse is there then the culprit most likely lies from there to the fuel pump connection. I am sad to say that this bike elextrical issues keep popping up. a wise man on this site said " If you can't fix it with a hammer, it must be an electrical problem" . That does not bode well for a carpenter or a farrier.

So, not completely dead then if it cranks.......healthy or poor crank, any dash display/lights, lights/horn/indicators OK, soft 32 dat 101, etc, etc?

Need more info to help.

Hi mate, just watch out what you do there. The fuel pump is not always on unless the engine is running.
What happens when you turn the key you hear the pump prime for a second or two, this is controlled by the ecu!
Then when you crank the pump comes on again and stays on while running. If you turn the key and disconnect the hose nothing will happen for above reasons unless you turn key of and on again or crank.
A few other things are involved here like the fuel pump relay, so make sure you know what you're doing before mucking arround. On the other hand fuel pumps just crap out an it might just be that.

PM me if you need wiring diagram or download from the how to tread, In the manuals part.

Gotcha...misunderstood your post.

As Ktmguy states check relay and pump per manual.

The culprit is obvious....

You removed the tank and in doing so disconnected the electrical connections and re-connected them (ie, reseated the connectors). This solved your problem...put some dilectric grease on those connectors (note: those will not require as much dilectric grease as the BGC).

Glad you got it sorted.
