Afternoon all

Can anyone recommend good tyres to put on 09 SDR for our lovely UK winters, i currently run Pirelli Diablo Rosso Corsa and rear is not good in wet/ cold.

Tyres been recommended are Bridgestone BAttlax 023 or Michelin Road Pilot 3. Plan on puttin the rosso corsa back on next year for track

The BT 023 are a sportour tyre. Had the previous version on my VFR, quite in the winter, but you won't be able to push the SD that hard. Don't know if the new type will be any better though.

The Pilot 3's seem to be the one everyone seems to be raving about for the wet weather

I'm deliberating about exactly the same thing to put on my spare set of wheels. The Racetecs I have on are shocking in the wet and cold. Miserable. I've had SO MANY rear end slides and heart popping moments putting the power on, (quite gently), out of roundabouts on these in the wet. Once it got so bad and frequent on a long trip a few weeks ago that I was convinced I must have an oil leak and pulled over to check everything.

I put on Metzeler Sportec M5s last year, (the ones with the silly lean indicator marks), they were OK but didn't really thrill me.

On my old LC4 supermoto I used to put on these intermediate tyres for the winter that were really treaded but soft and they were awesome in the wet. Wish there was something that could really cope with British salt and wet and grime but let you ride like it was summer! I don't care if they are fast wearing.

I use a pair of Pilot Road 3 in the winter - front's a bit wooden, though.

Sport touring tyres would be the best bet. The only problem is the sport touring tyre carcasses are designed for sport touring bikes, you know, the 500+lb kind with high luggage capacity. I've found that a decent sport front tyre paired with a sport touring rear generally feels best. So a PR3 rear with a Pilot Power front would be the Michelin option.

Choose from these:

This is mine, shoot taken between dyno sessions. They have 2 big advantages - very-very good grip from cold (and wet), and high expected mileage. Pretty good ones as much as I had them.

Sportsmarts seem to be the choice: an excellent all round tyre.
My personal road choice is the Roadsmart II but I do a lot of miles.

I'm running Rosso 11's on mine and they're very good both wet and dry. And trust me over here in Ireland about 80% of the riding is in the wet
Like most pirellis they need a little bit of heat but a few miles and they're fine, seem to be wearing very well too. Had them on a zx6 and a benelli tornado too and never an issue
