On my way to work this afternoon I filled the SD up as usual but something in side me said use the premium, so I did, what a difference the bike never surged as it tends to on a held constant throttle and it seemed a lot better response of the throttle as well as being a lot smoother. All round well worth the 5p or whatever the difference per litre. The question is should I use it all the time now or just ocassionally

Over here, 95 octane is considered regular and 98 upwards is premium. Correct me if I'm wrong but don't other countries get a lower octane which is considered regular?

For the record, my RC8 always gets 98 or above.

Here in the colonies.....
87 is considered regular - have seen 85 (not E-85)
89 is mid-grade
91 is premium - 93 if non-ethanol
MOST are with 10% ethanol, but Pure Gas can be found in all grades.
I try to run Top Tier premium...usually Conoco or Shell.

I use standard unleaded for test days and super for races and qualifying and notice not a jot of difference apart from super unleaded smells nicer.

I only use branded fuel though. Wouldn't touch supermarket stuff.

Seem to remember a TV programme that tested fuels a couple of years ago in the UK. 5th Gear I think. Put motors on a dyno. Made sod all difference in terms of power. Maybe it's a bit less sooty but that's about it. Marketing BS

Used to premium back in the day when it was cheap these days standard but like Viking avoid supermarket fuel for the bike.

I've used both but have never felt a difference

But I am ignorant, I didn't feel a difference with a different map

I didn't feel a difference with different tyre pressures

and until stalker came along I was king of Cadwel
