My guess is the wire under the bike is from and add on battery tender wire. The SDs do not come with a power wire that you hook up to a battery tender. Take care with this wire because the chance of this wire is still connected to the battery and it is still hot are very high and it could burn your bike and your house and your village. Kind of sorry about being a hard ass on this, but it is some thing that can kill you and or others, and thats no shiiiit. Look in the manual and look at the warning lables. That should wake you up. The hot wire should have a fuse in it and will run back to the battery or a connection that will make it back to the battery.
The problem with buying a used bike is you take your chances on the knowkedge of the previous owner. I have a battery tender wire and it's not loose draging under my bike. Its zipped tied to the bike frame. We have no idea what has happened to your bike or the skill level of your self, or the PO. We are here to help but....
A bud of mine taught people how to rock climb. He said the hardest task he had was telling a person that they don't have it in them to rock climb and should find another sport. Few of us want others to harm them selfs. A lot of us know the early warning signs.
There is a lot more to this sport than the purchase of the bike and the learning curve is steep and dangerous. It's like a loaded gun. Not all people should handle guns.
Trace the wire back and post up. Baby steps. Lot's of help here.......now back to my Friday beer 30 task.

The dangling thing you see under the bike is a vent tube for your gas tank and has nothing to do with your battery tender wire which is zipped tied to some other wires. Most new bikes do not come with the battery tender wire attached. I mounted my tender wire up higher on the frame which will stay a lot cleanrer than the location that yours in mounted.
I don't know how else to say this so I will not beat around the bush for your safety in mind. This bike is not a beginers bike. It is a very hyper sports orientated machine that can and will kill you if not taken seriously. I have seen a lot of bikes demolished with less then 1000 miles.
I might be wrong with my gut feeling about you but can you please tell us you mototcycle experence, training, miles on previous bikes, what bikes, track time, any thing that will help us help you.
You sound very new to motorcycling and may have been sold a motorcycle way over your riding capabilities. This is a machine for advanced riders. Sorry if am I wrong on this mater but better safe than sorry.

We also will be needing a address so we can come to get the bike with the dangeling VENT TUBE

Besides coming my previous bike being a hyper 1100s that I rode for 2 years including many track days, I race enduro and have owned over 10 other bikes and been riding for 12 years, so I guess I'm a newbie compared with you pros

A simple question regarding what to me seems like a battery tender wire does not deserve your comments

Was not aware this forum was only for people that knew everything about their bike and only had statements, not questions

Now, if you'll excuse me I'm gonna finish the YouTube video on this weird thing called counter steering

with the photo, that's a fair question. looks like a battery tender to me. not something you would expect for a brand-new bike. fitted for a sale that fell through?

it is entirely possible that a good dealer would fit a battery tender lead to a new bike thats going to be sitting in a showroom with a pain in the arse to get at battery,
makes sense to me anyway
